AT THE MCKINNONS, MICHELE AND ELIZABETH ARE IN MICHELE’S BEDROOM..

MICHELE:  It was so easy...I...I broke into the hospital mainframe...and I switched Bridget’s test results with someone else’s.

ELIZABETH:  What? What did you do exactly?  How did you even pull that off?

MICHELE:  I switched her test results with someone who tested positive…

ELIZABETH WIDENS HER EYES WITH SURPRISE.

ELIZABETH:  You made it look like...Bridget has HIV?  

MICHELE:  Oh come on...no...but chlamydia...yes.

ELIZABETH:  Wow that’s so cruel.

MICHELE:  Cruel? Not it’s not.  The doctor will give her some antibiotics and it will be all over.  Nobody will ever know what I did.

ELIZABETH:  I have to say it’s...pretty genius.

MICHELE:  By the time her so called disease clears up, she and Cory will be apart.

ELIZABETH:  You went through a lot of trouble.  You made sure that the hack wouldn’t be traced back to you right?

MICHELE:  Do you really think I’m that stupid?  No it will not be traced back to me.  Cory’s gonna think that she cheated on him, and he’ll drop her so fast.

ELIZABETH:  Wow...that’ll be good though.  He doesn’t need to be with that bitch.

MICHELE:  I totally agree.

AT DONNA’S SUITE, BRIDGET SITS HOME ALONE ON THE COUCH IN THE LIVING ROOM.  HER ARMS ARE WRAPPED AROUND HER FOLDED LEGS.

BRIDGET:  How could he do this to me?  

JAKE RINGS THE DOORBELL.

JAKE (from outside):  Bridget?

BRIDGET:  Come in dad!

JAKE AND PAULINA WALK IN, RUN TO BRIDGET, AND SIT ON EACH SIDE OF HER ON THE COUCH.

JAKE:  I got your text.  I brought Paulina with me.  Is that okay?

BRIDGET:  Yeah sure.

JAKE:   Are you alright?

BRIDGET:  No...no I’m not.

PAULINA:  What happened?

JAKE:  What’s going on?  Talk to us.

BRIDGET:  You sure you want me to tell you?

JAKE:  You can tell me anything.

PAULINA:  Of course.  We wanna help.

BRIDGET:  I went to...Dr. Davidson’s office today and…

JAKE:  Annnnd?

BRIDGET:  I caught a disease.

JAKE:  A what?  A disease?  

What are you talking about?

You’re being treated for it right?

BRIDGET:  Yeah she gave me some antibiotics

to clear it up.

JAKE:  What disease did you get?

BRIDGET GETS UP AND TURNS HER BACK TO JAKE AND PAULINA.

BRIDGET:  Chalmydia.

JAKE:  What? You...you and Cory have

been responsible right?

BRIDGET:  Of course I...I don’t know how I got this.

JAKE:  And you haven’t...been with anyone else right?

JAKE AND PAULINA LOOK AT EACH OTHER AS BRIDGET TURNS BACK AROUND AND FACES THEM.

BRIDGET:  Right. I don’t even know how

this happened!  Cory and I have always been safe.

PAULINA:  We believe you.

JAKE:  Well then it’s him.  He’s the one who hasn’t been responsible.

BRIDGET:  So what are you saying dad?  Cory’s been cheating on me?

JAKE:  That’s the only other possibility right?  Come here.

JAKE AND BRIDGET EMBRACE.

JAKE:  We’re gonna get through this okay.

VICKY APPEARS AND MOMENTARILY OBSERVES JAKE,

PAULINA, AND BRIDGET.

Vicky

VICKY:  Get through what?  Where’s Donna?

BRIDGET:  She went to the Corys.

VICKY:  For what?

BRIDGET:  To talk to Rachel.

VICKY:  I wonder what they’re talking about.

BRIDGET:  About me.

JAKE:  Bridget I don’t think…

BRIDGET:  No...might as well tell her.  Words gonna get out anyway.

VICKY:  Tell me?  About what?

BRIDGET:  I got infected with chlamydia.

RACHEL WALKS IN THE LIVING ROOM AND SEES CORY AND DONNA.

RACHEL:  Donna what brings you by?

DONNA:  Good the gang’s all here.

RACHEL:  What’s going on?

DONNA:  Your son is being irresponsible and promiscuous.

CORY:  I’m sorry?  What is this about?

DONNA:  It’s about my granddaughter and what you gave her!

RACHEL:  I don’t understand.

DONNA:  You don’t understand?  Well I’ll be glad to help you!  Bridget has been diagnosed with chlamydia and Cory gave it to her!  

CORY:  What?!

DONNA:  You heard right.  You gave my granddaughter a disease because of your irresponsibility!

RACHEL:  What proof do you have of this?

DONNA:  Bridget says Cory is the only guy she’s been with.  

RACHEL:  How do you know this for sure?

CORY:  I haven’t slept with anyone else but her!

DONNA:  And how do we know that?

RACHEL:  How do we know that Bridget hasn’t slept with other boys?

DONNA:  I believe her!

RACHEL:  Cory...why don’t you leave us alone for a minute please?

CORY:  Mom how can she come in here and accuse me of this?  I would never do something like that to Bridget!

RACHEL:  I know honey.  Go ahead. Let me talk to Donna.

CORY WALKS OUT OF THE LIVING ROOM.  RACHEL MAKES SURE HE’S GONE AND TURNS TO FACE DONNA.

RACHEL:  I don’t appreciate you coming into my house and accusing my son of infecting your granddaughter?

DONNA:  There’s no other explanation Rachel.  Face the truth about your son. He’s sleeping around on Bridget and he gave her chlamydia!

RACHEL:  With your family history I don’t think you should be in a rush to judgment about my son.

DONNA:  I am standing by Bridget.  If she says she didn’t sleep with anyone else, then I believe her.  The only other way she could have gotten this is Cory!

ELIZABETH:  I mean I...I almost feel sorry for Bridget.  

MICHELE:  Why? She’s only getting what she deserves.

ELIZABETH:  Yeah but...you switched her tests to make her think she has a S.T.I.  Wow.

MICHELE:  It’s almost like...you think I went too far.

ELIZABETH:  Weeeeell...maybe a little.

MICHELE:  Are you serious right now?  I thought you were my friend.

ELIZABETH:  I am your friend.

MICHELE:  This will all blow over in a couple of weeks, and by that time your brother and my sister will be over.  The trust will be broken.

ELIZABETH:  You’re right I mean...if it gets Cory away from Bridget then I’m all for it.  She’s totally not right for him.

MICHELE:  It’s not like someone’s gonna die or something.  Yeah the breakup will hurt but...they’ll bounce back.  Bridget had to pay for what she’d done to me.

ELIZABETH:  So not even of twinge of you feels sorry for your sister?

MICHELE:  Why should I?  I feel the same way she felt when she stole vodka from my great grandfather; hid my acceptance letter from Harvard; kissed Cory at the prom after getting him drunk.  She ruined my life, and I’m just returning the favor.

VICKY:  Are you serious?   How...what happened?

BRIDGET:  I don’t know.  I’ve always been safe.

VICKY:  Oh my God Bridget...are you sleeping around?  You’re way too young for that.

JAKE:  Vicky…

BRIDGET:  I haven’t!

PAULINA:  Come on Vicky.  Do you really think she would act irresponsibly?

VICKY:  She doesn’t have to lie to me.  She needs to learn to make better choices.

BRIDGET:  I knew you wouldn’t believe me!

VICKY:  If you were being safe then you wouldn’t have gotten chlamydia.  Your father and I have always taught you to be responsible, and you go and do this!  

JAKE:  Vicky!  

VICKY:  I can’t believe you’re falling for this ‘woe is me’ act Jake.  Clearly she brought this on herself.

JAKE GRABS VICKY’S LEFT ARM AND ESCORTS HER OUT FRONT.

JAKE:  I’ll be back.

PAULINA:  I’ll stay with Bridget.

JAKE:  Would it hurt to give our daughter some support?

VICKY:  I’m tired of everyone thinking that I’m against Bridget!  She has to take responsibility for what she’s done.

JAKE:  She says she hasn’t slept with anyone else except Cory and I believe her.  Why can’t you?

VICKY:  Because I see right through it.  

JAKE:  It doesn’t occur to you that Cory could be the one that was being irresponsible.

VICKY:  It takes two, Jake.  We’ve always taught the girls to use protection when having sex.  Apparently Bridget wasn’t listening.

JAKE:  I can’t believe this!  You’re not even giving her the benefit of the doubt.

VICKY:  Why should I?  After everything she’s done!

JAKE:  Are you serious?  She’s our daughter that’s why!

VICKY:  That doesn’t give her an excuse to sleep with guys and not use condoms.  She has to suffer the consequences of her actions.

JAKE:  Why Vicky?  Why are you so...resentful of Bridget?  Why do you think the worst of her? Is it because you see yourself in her?  All the mistakes you made in the past!

VICKY:  As I recall, you were one of them during my marriage to Jamie.

JAKE:  Bridget needs our support and all you can do is jump down her throat about being irresponsible and we really don’t even know what happened!  I wonder if you even love our daughter.

VICKY:  Bridget refuses to get help as we’ve all suggested, and now she’s making bad choices.  That’s on her.

RACHEL:  You don’t know the whole story Donna.

DONNA:  I know enough.  My granddaughters have been fighting for months now, and your son is part of the reason.

RACHEL:  Cory did not cause this feud between Bridget and Michele.  

DONNA:  As far as I’m concerned he is right at the center!  And he needs to take himself out of it!

CORY COMES BACK INTO THE LIVING ROOM.

RACHEL:  What are you saying?

DONNA:  They need to heal their relationship and as long as Cory is in the middle, they will not get that chance.  He needs to stay away from Bridget and Michele.

CORY:  Are you kidding me?  

RACHEL:  How can you ask something like that?  The kids grew up together.

DONNA:  Now it’s time for them to grow up...apart.  

RACHEL:  All because you think that Cory is cheating on Bridget?  

DONNA:  I don’t know.  Cory are you?

CORY:  No! I told you already.

DONNA:  How do we know that?  How do we know you are not sleeping with other girls and not using protection?

CORY:  I guess there’s only one way to find out.  I’m gonna call the hospital.

RACHEL:  For what?

CORY:  I’m gonna get tested for chlamydia.
