PREVIOUSLY ON ANOTHER WORLD
---Dante Carlino graduated from the Police Academy and
landed a Detective job at the Bay City Police Department. He took over Jack Snyder’s position after
Grant’s blackmail forced Jack to break up with Paulina, quit the force, and return
to Oakdale
--In his brief run for mayor against his father, Grant,
Kirkland went to Genoa City and slept with another guy. Grant got his hands on the video footage of
this, and Eric Stenbeck stole out of Grant’s house. Eric used this footage to blackmail Kirkland
into having sex with him. Kirkland
married Charlie Winthrop (Cass and Frankie’s daughter) and has not told her of
this secret.
--Christy slipped a drug into Felicia’s club soda, which
caused Felicia to have urges to drink liquor.
Felicia is a recovering alcoholic and has been sober for many years, but
she couldn’t understand why she was having urges to drink. Rachel disowned Felicia as a friend after
Rachel learned that Felicia signed her book/move deal with Iris and KBAY
instead of Cory Productions. Then
Felicia spied her husband Mitch hugging Sharlene, which sent her over the edge
and she took a few drinks. She then went
for a drive and caused a three car accident.
This accident caused Christy, who was pregnant, to lose her baby. The police caught up with Felicia, but Christy
decided not to press charges.
AND NOW…EPISODE 283 of ANOTHER WORLD
AT TOPS, THE
ELEVATOR DOORS OPEN AND DANTE WALKS IN AMONG THE PATRONS. HE LOOKS OVER
AND SEES PAULINA, WHO WAVES HIM OVER TO HER TABLE. DANTE WALKS OVER TO HER.
Paulina Cory |
PAULINA: Hiiii honey.
DANTE KISSES PAULINA ON HER LEFT CHEEK AND SITS ACROSS
FROM HER.
PAULINA: Hey I was at Donna’s.
DANTE: Let me guess. Bridget and Michele.
PAULINA: Yeah they’re...they’re fighting. You
know they could use your friendship right now. I wonder if you’ve caught
up with any of them.
DANTE: I haven’t had a chance.
PAULINA: I’m so happy to see you. We haven’t
had a chance to catch up since you’ve been back.
DANTE: I’m sorry mom I...I’ve just been real busy
at the station.
PAULINA: You’ve been investigating the accident on
Route 17?
DANTE (sighs): Yeah.
PAULINA: I heard Felicia was the one who hit
Christy.
DANTE: Mom I...didn’t wanna talk about work okay.
PAULINA: Yeah um…right.
DANTE: So what’s goin on with you?
PAULINA: What isn’t going on?
DANTE: Oh yeah...I almost forgot...sorry about what
happened with Jack. He was a real good mentor to me when I got out of the
academy.
PAULINA: You took over his job.
DANTE: Yeah it’s a lot. Real busy.
PAULINA: So...uh...what was the academy like?
DANTE: Like a...police academy? We did our
training and I graduated.
PAULINA: I’m sure you made a lot of friends there.
DANTE: Yeah...lot of friends at the academy.
PAULINA: Hmm that didn’t sound like an endorsement.
DANTE: Let’s just say there wasn’t a...whole lot of
camaraderie there.
PAULINA: Oh. Did...did something happen there?
DANTE’S CELL PHONE VIBRATES AND HE LOOKS AT THE TEXT.
DANTE: Life of a detective.
PAULINA: Work?
DANTE: Yep.
PAULINA: Oh honey. We gotta finish this talk.
DANTE: Yeah. Love you.
PAULINA: Love you, too baby.
PAULINA GETS A TEXT ON HER CELL PHONE.
PAULINA: Grant.
THE TEXT READS: I need your decision.
Time is running out. Tick tock.
------
Kirkland Harrison |
GRANT PUTS HIS CELL PHONE IN HIS POCKET AS HE IS WALKING
TO THE DOOR TO ANSWER IT. WHEN HE OPENS THE DOOR HE SEES KIRKLAND.
GRANT: Hey son. Come on in.
KIRKLAND (walking in): Dad I need to talk to you.
GRANT: Of course what is it?
KIRKLAND: I need to get rid of a big problem.
GRANT: Problem? What kind of problem?
KIRKLAND: Eric Stenbeck.
------
ERIC IS AT HIS APARTMENT SWALLOWING A PILL AND DRINKING A
GLASS OF WATER TO WASH IT DOWN. WHEN SOMEONE RINGS THE DOORBELL. ERIC
SWIPES ALL OF HIS MEDICATIONS, THROWS THEM IN THE DRAWER, AND GOES AND OPENS
THE DOOR.
Eric Stenbeck |
ERIC: Oh...you.
IT’S CHRISTY.
CHRISTY: May I come in?
ERIC: Make it quick I’m expecting company.
CHRISTY: Kirkland?
ERIC: What is it mom?
CHRISTY: Are you still angry at me?
ERIC LOOKS AT HER AND SIGHS.
ERIC: No...I’m not...not anymore.
CHRISTY: Good.
ERIC: Look I’m...I’m sorry...about what I said
about the…
CHRISTY: You can say it...
ERIC: I know how much you wanted to have a
baby. My father and Douglas didn’t allow you a chance to raise me.
I get it...I guess.
CHRISTY: I wonder...how different would life have
been if I had...if I had to chance to raise you. To be a real mother to
you.
ERIC: We can’t change the past mom. We can
only move forward.
CHRISTY: You know...Bay City has been...a place
that bad things have happened to me. I killed Douglas. I served time in
prison. I lived every day longing for my son. Wondering how you were
doing; wondering if you were making friends; if you were doing well in school.
ERIC: I’m here aren’t I? I think I did okay.
CHRISTY: James put you in a boarding school, being
raised by people who didn’t care about you. I’m so sorry son. I should
have fought harder. I should have demanded that James and Douglas tell me where
you were.
ERIC: Will you stop it? Why are you beating
yourself up over something you had no control over. They manipulated you.
CHRISTY: I missed so much of your life. I
guess I...I understand why you resented that I wanted to have a baby.
ERIC: Mom that’s enough okay.
CHRISTY: You know it’s...it’s not too late for us
to be a family.
ERIC: And here comes your real reason for coming to
see me.
CHRISTY: We should leave. We should get out
of Bay City.
ERIC: Like I said I’m expecting company. Time
for you to go.
AS ERIC ESCORTS CHRISTY TO THE DOOR, HE HITS HER PURSE
ACCIDENTALLY AND THE CONTENTS FALL OUT. HE BENDS DOWN TO PICK THEM UP AND
FINDS A BOTTLE OF PILLS AND A DARK HAIRED WIG.
ERIC (reading the label): What’s this? Felicia
Gallant Blake? Flurazepam? What’s
this all about?
-----
MITCH AND FELICIA ARE IN A CAR WITH MITCH DRIVING.
Felicia Gallant Blake |
MITCH: How was the meeting?
FELICIA: It was...AA.
MITCH: Right. You’ve been through those before.
FELICIA: I...I got so stressed out that night.
MITCH: I’m partly responsible right?
FELICIA: No you’re not. You didn’t exactly
force me to drink that bottle of vodka at Tops.
MITCH: No but if I just came straight home instead
of stopping at the Center.
FELICIA: No.
MITCH: Or even if I came on my scheduled flight,
you may not have gone on a bender.
FELICIA: Mitch stop it. You’re not to blame
here okay. I drank, and got behind the wheel of a car. That’s my
fault. I...I wanna put that night behind me. I got a second
chance when Christy decided not to press charges.
MITCH: I have to say I’m surprised by that. You
think she’d want to after what happened. Makes you think she’s up to
something, too.
FELICIA: As bad as I feel for what I did, I’m not
scared of Christy.
CAMERA PAN ON FELICIA...SLOW FADE TO THEME SONG.
-----
PART 2
GRANT: What exactly are you talking about Kirkland?
KIRKLAND: Eric is gonna ruin my marriage and he has
to be taken care of.
GRANT: What are you suggesting I do?
KIRKLAND: You got a ton of connections dad.
Use them to get rid of Eric.
GRANT: Kirkland...are you asking me to hurt him?
KIRKLAND: Look..dad he’s coming between my marriage
with Charlie. You know how much I love her.
GRANT: And you want me to get rid of Eric
Stenbeck? I won’t do it.
KIRKLAND: What do you mean you won’t do it?
GRANT: My God...son...I love you more than anything
else in this world. I don’t want to see you...end up like me. Affairs;
failed marriages. I’m alone. I got here because I lied; because I didn’t
tell the truth.
KIRKLAND: Dad I can’t tell Charlie that I slept
with Eric!
GRANT: You’re gonna have to do something different
than I did. Parents want better for their children than they had, and I
want better for you son. You need to be honest with Charlie.
KIRKLAND: I’d...I’d lose her. She finds out
that I’m…
GRANT: Gay? Say it Kirkland!
KIRKLAND: I’m not gay!
GRANT: Your marriage is like death by a thousand
paper cuts. Every day you don’t tell Charlie the truth, you make another
slit...slowly killing your relationship.
KIRKLAND: That would never happen if you helped me
get rid of Eric.
GRANT: I’m not going to engage in any criminal
activity where Eric Stenbeck is concerned. You can fix it.
KIRKLAND: I’m not telling Charlie about that!
GRANT: I won’t participate in your deception!
GRANT WALKS UP TO KIRKLAND AND PLACES HIS HANDS ON
KIRKLAND’S SHOULDERS.
GRANT: Son…I want
you to do better than I did.
Tell…her…the…truth.
CHRISTY SNATCHES THE PILLS AND THE WIG FROM ERIC AND
PLACES THEM IN HER PURSE.
CHRISTY: Nothing.
ERIC:
Nothing? Mom you have pills in
Felicia’s name…and a wig? What the hell
are you planning?
CHRISTY: I told
you…nothing.
ERIC: The police
picked her up for her role in the accident didn’t they?
CHRISTY JUST LOOKS AT ERIC.
ERIC: And…Felicia
got released. Did you press charges?
CHRISTY TURNS AND LOOKS AWAY FROM ERIC.
CHRISTY: No.
ERIC: Why didn’t
you?
CHRISTY: I…I wanna
move on.
ERIC GOES AND STEPS IN FRONT OF CHRISTY AND FACES HER.
ERIC: Come on
mom. How stupid do you think I am? You decided not to press charges because
you’re planning to do something to her.
You’re planning to hurt Felicia aren’t you?
CHRISTY: Eric…my
son…the less you know…the better.
ERIC: Maybe you’re
right.
CHRISTY: Believe
me, Felicia will pay for killing my baby.
ERIC: And instead
of letting the police do their job, you’re gonna handle it yourself? Guess you wanna end up back in prison.
CHRISTY: So what
are you gonna do? You’re gonna turn me
in to the police?
ERIC: I think
you’re right. The less I know…the
better.
CHRISTY GATHERS HER BELONGINGS, WALKS TOWARD THE DOOR,
TURNS AROUND AND FACES ERIC.
CHRISTY:
Everything I’ve done for you…was out of love.
ERIC: Okay.
CHRISTY SUDDENLY RUNS UP TO ERIC AND HUGS HIM, BUT ERIC
DOES NOT HUG HER BACK.
CHRISTY: I will
always love you.
ERIC: Bye mom.
OUTSIDE OF THE DOOR, CHRISTY LOOKS AT HER SON, AND HE
SHUTS THE DOOR IN HER FACE. SHE LEANS
AGAINST THE WALL TO THE LEFT OF THE DOOR AND CRIES.
MITCH: I am in no
way implying that you’re afraid of her, but doesn’t it make you question why
she decided to not press charges?
FELICIA: Of course
it does, but it doesn’t mean that I should live in fear.
MITCH: After what
she did to Cass and Frankie, I wouldn’t underestimate her.
FELICIA: I am in
no way unaware of what she’s capable of, but I am not going to walk around
afraid of what she might do.
MITCH: Maybe…you
should go and…visit Jenna.
FELICIA: Are you
serious? How can you even suggest
something so ludicrous?
THERE’S A KNOCK ON THE DOOR, AND MITCH GOES AND OPENS
IT. HE LOOKS TO LEFT AND TO THE RIGHT AND
SEES NOBODY. HE LOOKS DOWN AND SEES A
SQUARE WHITE BOX. FELICIA COMES TO THE
DOOR NEXT TO MITCH.
FELICIA: What’s
this?
MITCH: Someone
left it here.
MITCH PICKS UP THE BOX AND SHUTS THE DOOR.
MITCH: I don’t
like this. We should just throw it away.
FELICIA: No. I say we open it.
MITCH: Felicia.
FELICIA: I say…we
open it.
FELICIA TAKES OFF THE REMOVABLE, SQUARE WHITE TOP AND
REMOVES THE WAX PAPER. SUDDENLY, SHE
SCREAMS AND DROPS THE BOX.
MITCH: What the…?
A DEAD FETUS LANDS ON THE FLOOR IN FRONT OF THEM.
FREEZE FRAME ON MITCH AND FELICIA…SLOW FADE OUT…END OF
EPISODE 283
Now that was a shocking ending. Christy didn't come to play, and Felicia best watch out!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed how the small beats played through this. It really did help catch me off guard for the big finish.
Let's talk Grant and Kirkland. Their conversation gives me some misgivings as far as Grant is concerned. He is really delusional if he is trying so hard to be ethical with Kirkland's problems, after he was so conniving with Jack and Paulina. I do like their twisted father son bond!
Juxtaposing it against the twisted relationship of Eric and Christy was smart as well. Then to contrast that with the care and concern Paulina showed Dante really brought it all home.
You selected some good material for this episode, and I really liked all of it. Great work.
