PREVIOUSLY ON ANOTHER WORLD

·         Lily Mason returned to Bay City and earned the forgiveness of her daughter, Joy Kramer.  Lily also disclosed that she has cancer
·         Matt and Brianna entered into a relationship.  Brianna came to Bay City with the intention of exacting revenge for her mother (Taylor Benson).  Taylor’s deathbed wish was for Brianna to “finish” Sharlene Hudson.  People do not know that Brianna is Taylor’s daughter
·         Carl gave Grant a DNA test result before Carl died.  Carl lamented that it shows that Grant has another son besides Kirkland,  but it does not detail who the DNA test match is for.  Grant did not believe Carl at first, thinking it was one of Carl’s games, but Carl was right, Grant does have another son, and he has been searching for him since.

AT THOMASINA’S HOUSE, LILY WALKS INTO THE LIVING ROOM WITH A BLANKET AND LIES DOWN ON THE COUCH, WHILE THOMASINA BRINGS HER A CUP OF TEA.

Lily Mason

THOMASINA:  How are you feeling?
LILY:  I’m feeling good.  Never better actually.
THOMASINA:  I made an appointment for you to see an oncologist at the hospital tomorrow.
Thomasina Mason
LILY:  You didn’t have to do that.
THOMASINA:  I know.  I was thinking maybe you should start your treatments here.  At least you’ll have family around.  That support is very important.
LILY:  Niece I got all the support I need.
THOMASINA:  What do you mean exactly?
LILY:  Joy...decided to forgive me.
THOMASINA:  Wow really?  That’s fantastic.  I know that’s a weight lifted off your shoulders.
LILY:  She’s going to that party right?
THOMASINA:  That Donna Love is throwing?   Yeah she is.
LILY:  I really want her to be happy…to live better than I did.  Her forgiveness though, it gives me a lot of peace.

THOMASINA NODS HER HEAD AND SMILES.

THOMASINA:  I’m headed to the hospital to finish up some work.  Do you want anything on my way back?

LILY LOOKS AT THOMASINA AND SMILES.

LILY:  No.  No thank you.

THOMASINA GOES AND SITS NEXT TO LILY ON THE COUCH, AND HUGS HER TIGHTLY.

THOMASINA:  I love you Aunty.
LILY:  I love you, too.

THOMASINA LEAVES AS LILY SMILES AND LIES ON THE COUCH.  SHE DRAPES THE BLANKET OVER HER BODY AND CLOSES HER EYES.

MATT:  You can remove the blindfold.

BRIANNA TAKES THE BLINDFOLD OFF AND SMILES.

BRIANNA:  Oh my God.

BRIANNA:  This is wonderful.  Nobody’s ever done this for me before.

MATT STEPS IN FRONT OF BRIANNA.

MATT:  Nobody sees the beauty that I see.  You deserve it.
BRIANNA:  I never thought I’d find…love.  I don’t want to ever let it go.
MATT:  I don’t intend to let you…let it go.

Frankie Frame

FRANKIE:  This should help you feel a little better.
CHARLIE:  Can I take something?
FRANKIE:  Nooooo.
CHARLIE:  I know mom I’m just…
FRANKIE:  I know the feeling honey.  I was the same way when I was pregnant with you.
CHARLIE:  When will my stomach stop turning?
FRANKIE:  I called Kirkland.  He’s on his way back home.
CHARLIE:  Why mom?
FRANKIE:  He’s your husband.
CHARLIE:  I wanted him to enjoy his family.  I didn’t want him to miss Bridget’s homecoming. Besides, I’m in good hands with you.
FRANKIE:  Yes dear, but he wants to be here.
CHARLIE:  Do you have something else to do?
FRANKIE:  There’s no place I’d rather be than with my only child.
CHARLIE:  I thought you’d want to rush home to dad.
FRANKIE:  Your dad and I will have plenty of time.  You just hang in there.
CHARLIE:  I thought it was supposed to be morning sickness, not evening sickness.

KIRKLAND WALKS IN.

Kirkland Harrison

KIRKLAND:  Hey is everything alright?
CHARLIE:  My stomach is spinning.
KIRKLAND:  Anything we should be concerned about?
FRANKIE:  It’s just part of being pregnant.
CHARLIE:  Babe can you help me up.

KIRKLAND GOES OVER TO CHARLIE AND HELPS HER OUT OF THE BED.

KIRKLAND:  You alright?
CHARLIE:  No.

CHARLIE GOES TO THE BATHROOM.  KIRKLAND AND FRANKIE LOOK AT EACH OTHER AS THEY HEAR CHARLIE VOMIT.

PART 2

AT THE HOSPITAL, THOMASINA IS IN HER OFFICE WHEN RUSS MATTHEWS WALKS IN.

Russ Matthews

THOMASINA:  Dr. Matthews hi.
RUSS:  Dr. Mason.
THOMASINA:  Burning the midnight oil huh?
RUSS:  You know I have to make sure that my patients are taken care of.
THOMASINA:  I know.  You are very well respected, and deservedly so.
RUSS:  I appreciate that.  This hospital is always gonna have a place in my heart.
THOMASINA:  It’ll be that way for me, too.
RUSS:  Have you checked your email?
THOMASINA:  Not since I left earlier.  Is there something I should be aware of?
RUSS:  Yeah.

THOMASINA SITS DOWN, TURNS ON HER COMPUTER, AND LOOKS AT HER EMAIL.

THOMASINA:  No.  I…I can’t accept that.
RUSS:  I wasn’t asking permission.
THOMASINA:  But, we were really just getting along.  I don’t know what we’re gonna do without you.
RUSS:  You’re gonna do just fine.
THOMASINA:  But Seattle though?
RUSS:  It was out of the blue almost, but it’s a great opportunity for me though.
THOMASINA:  If I were you I…wouldn’t pass it up either.
RUSS:  We’ll both be the Chief of Staff of our hospitals.
THOMASINA:  Well at least you’ll be here until I find someone to replace you, although that’s not gonna be easy.
RUSS:  I also emailed you my patient files.  They want me to start in two days, so I’m leaving Bay City tonight.
THOMASINA:  That settles it huh?
RUSS:  I’m gonna miss this place.

THOMASINA GETS UP AND WALKS UP TO RUSS.

THOMASINA:  I guess this is goodbye…and good luck.

 -------------------------------------------------

AT THE HOTEL ROOM, MATT AND BRIANNA ARE LYING IN BED TOGETHER.  BRIANNA LIES ON MATT’S BARE CHEST.

MATT:  Making love to you never gets old.
BRIANNA:  Hmm I wonder.
MATT:  I know you’re not doubting your skills are you?  Or mine?
BRIANNA:  Oh absolutely not.  I’m just thinking.
MATT:  About what?  What’s going on in your pretty little head?
BRIANNA:  Will you feel the same way about our lovemaking when WE get old?
MATT:  Why wouldn’t I?
BRIANNA:  What about when I’m going through…oooh I don’t wanna even say it.
MATT:  I think I know where you’re going with this.  You’re talking about cramps, hot flashes, irritability?
BRIANNA:  You’ve done your research.
MATT:  You think menopause is gonna stop me from loving you?
BRIANNA:  I dunno.  Sometimes we women think about that.  I don’t want to lose you.

MATT SITS UP AS BRIANNA DOES THE SAME.

MATT:  Brianna where is this coming from?
BRIANNA:  Matthew I…I wanna spend the rest of my life with you.  I haven’t found a love like this…ever.  I don’t want to lose you.
MATT:  Stop talking like this.  You’re not gonna lose me.

BRIANNA GETS OUT OF THE BED, PUTS HER ROBE ON AND TAKES TWO STEPS AWAY FROM THE BED.

MATT:  Brianna.  What’s wrong?
BRIANNA:  I don’t quite know how I want to say what I want to say.
MATT:  Just…say it?

BRIANNA TURNS AROUND AND FACES MATT.

BRIANNA:  I wanna leave…with you.
MATT:  Why?
BRIANNA:  Don’t you get it?  I want to leave town…with you.
MATT:  That sounds good.  I’d love to get away for a while.
BRIANNA:  No.  I’m talking about for good.  Let’s leave Bay City together.
MATT:  Babe you know I can’t do that.

 --------------------------------------------

AT THE WINTHROPS, FRANKIE WALKS IN AND SEES CASS ON THE COUCH.

Cass Winthrop

CASS:  Hey there good lookin’.
FRANKIE:  You’re still quite the charmer.
CASS:  How’s Charlie?
FRANKIE:  She’s…pregnant.
CASS:  I gathered that.
FRANKIE:  Going through pregnant people things.  She’s gonna be fine.  Kirkland’s with her.
CASS:  So let me guess what’s happening.  She’s got massive stomach aches and she can’t  hold anything down.
FRANKIE:  How did you know?
CASS:  I know a thing or two about nursing a pregnant wife.
FRANKIE:  Hmm I wonder how.
CASS:  You got acquainted with the bathroom when you were pregnant with Charlie.
FRANKIE:  And Charlie is now.
CASS:  I have to say I’m a little concerned.
FRANKIE:  Vomiting is not a cause for alarm when you’re pregnant.
CASS:  No.  It’s the stress.
FRANKIE:  Did she talk to you about the lawsuit?
CASS:  Oh we’re way past conversations.
FRANKIE:  Did she decide what she was gonna do?
CASS:  She gave me the green light.
FRANKIE:  Wow.
CASS:  She wasn’t sure at first but when she told me to do it she was very decisive.
FRANKIE:  How do YOU feel about it?  This would be the second time you’ve filed a civil suit against the hospital.
CASS:  I’ll get to work on obtaining the facts.
FRANKIE:  I’ll be supporting you again like I did last time.

CASS AND FRANKIE HUG, AND FRANKIE HEARS THOSE FAINT CHANTS AND A GUNSHOT, AND PULLS AWAY.

CASS:  What’s wrong?

FRANKIE HESITATES AND SMILES.

FRANKIE:  It’s nothing.  I just got a little chill.

-----------------------------------------------

KIRKLAND IS ON HIS CELL PHONE AS CHARLIE LIES ON THE BED.  KIRKLAND IS SITTING ON A NEARBY CHAIR.

KIRKLAND:  Yeah she’s fine.  She’s sleeping.  Just a little sick.  I wish I could be there.  You guys have fun, and behave yourself mom.

KIRKLAND SMILES, ENDS THE CALL, AND GETS A TEXT FROM AN “UNKNOWN” NUMBER.  The text reads:  I WILL NEVER FORGET.

------------------------------------------------

GRANT WALKS INTO SPENCER’S ROOM.  SPENCER LIES ON THE BED AS GRANT PULLS UP A CHAIR AND SITS NEXT TO THE BED.

GRANT:  So is this how it ends dad?  I wonder just how hard you tried to hold on before you took your last breath?  I didn’t even know you were sick.  It’s…in accordance with how you raised me right?  Be tough; do whatever it takes to win.  Tell people what you think they need to know.  It’s not about what’s true, it’s about what’s believed.  Get most of what you want out of every deal, and when you see a weakness, you attack.  That’s how you become a successful politician, but you know what?   After trying to apply all of your principles, I never got custody of my son, and I missed a lot of his life.   I lost Cynthia and I never got Victoria back, and I wish I could go back and do it over; get a second chance.  I want to do better by my son, than you did by me.   I owe you a great deal of responsibility…for the man I’ve become.  Good bye dad.

GRANT GETS UP, AND WALKS OUT OF THE ROOM.

------------------------------------------------------------

OUTSIDE OF THE ROOM, KELSEY WALKS UP TO GRANT.

KELSEY:  How are you feeling?
GRANT:  I’m not too sure.  Dad and I have always had a…contentious relationship.  Do you know how long he had been like that?
KELSEY:  For…a few weeks.  He didn’t want me to tell you or Kirkland until about a couple of hours ago.
GRANT (purses lips):  Of course he didn’t.  Good old Spencer Harrison.
KELSEY:  However there’s something that he DID want you to know.

KELSEY TAKES AN ENVELOPE OUT OF HER LAB COAT AND GIVES TO GRANT.

KELSEY:  It’s in here apparently.  He insisted that it not be opened until you got here.

GRANT LOOKS AT KELSEY AND OPENS THE ENVELOPE.  HE TAKES OUT A PIECE OF PAPER AND READS IT.

GRANT:  I..I don’t understand this.
KELSEY:  Let me see it.

KELSEY SKIMS IT OVER AND LOOKS UP AT GRANT.
GRANT:  Well what is it?
KELSEY:  This is a semen analysis.
GRANT:  Why would dad want to leave me something like that?
KELSEY:  I don’t know whose test this is, but from what I can see, this patient is not able to reproduce.
GRANT:  So dad left me a sperm test of a man who’s sterile?
KELSEY:  A test that was taken at Bay City Medical Center recently.

KELSEY POINTS AT THE “BCMC” LETTERING AND THE DATE IN THE UPPER RIGHT CORNER OF THE DOCUMENT.

GRANT:  It’s not mine because I haven’t had one of these tests, but whoever’s test this is…lives in Bay City.  Wait a second.  Carl Hutchins gave me a copy of a DNA test before he died.  It said that I was a match for my son, but it didn’t say for whom?
KELSEY:  Are you saying it’s somehow connected to this sperm count test?
GRANT:  Carl said he kept my son from me.  I thought it was his last mind game that he wanted to play on me, but I’m starting to think he was telling the truth.
KELSEY:  So Carl and Spencer thought that you had another son besides Kirkland?  That doesn’t make any sense.  Who else could it be?
GRANT:  I don’t know Kelsey, but if I find out whose sperm test this belongs to, I will find my son.

FREEZE FRAME ON GRANT.  SLOW FADE OUT.  END OF 329
