HOSPITAL

WAITING AREA

Kirkland counsels Michele.

Michele:  You don’t understand what she’s done.

Kirkland:  I heard all about it, but you’re sisters.

Michele:  Everybody likes to point that out to me.

Kirkland:  Because it’s the truth.  You’re never gonna be able to change that, and you two can’t be in the room for five minutes without wanting to scratch each other’s eye balls out.

Michele:  Why isn’t anyone talking to her about what she did?

Kirkland:  She was devastated after your accident.

Michele:  Yeah right.  

Kirkland:  She was.  Deep down you guys love each other.  What you and Bridget are going through is affecting the whole family.  You guys gotta chill with that.

Michele:  You need to be talking to her!  Not me!  I didn’t do anything wrong!  

Kirkland:  This can’t go on.  One of you is gonna get hurt real bad.

Michele:  And it’s not gonna be me.  I’m going to Aunt Marley’s room.

Michele walks out and Kirkland starts to follow, but stops to check his texts.  He is horrified by what he sees from Eric.  It’s a video of him sleeping with a Genoa City Athletic Club male bartender.  The caption reads:  I want more.

Charlie then walks in and snaps Kirkland out of his momentary funk.

Charlie:  Kirkland.  Baby what’s wrong.

Kirkland:  Oh...nothing.

Charlie:  Yeah it’s something….something you found on your phone.  What is it?

Meanwhile, Steven is in the hall on his cell phone.

Steven:  Hey it’s me.  You’re probably sleeping by now.  Sorry about my mom.  I just wanted to thank you for being my date tonight, and I don’t care what she says, I still feel the same way.

MARLEY’S ROOM.

Tyrone helps Marley into her wheelchair with family surrounding her.

Marley:  Roman’s gonna love all of you.  Let’s go see him.

Vicky:  Marley you look flushed.  Maybe you should just rest.  You just gave birth.

Donna:  Vicky’s right.  Why don’t you just stay here and rest?

Marley:  I can’t.  You don’t understand.

Vicky:  Believe me I do.  I had four children.

Michael:  Honey listen to your sister and your mother, and get some rest.  We can all come back in the morning and see him.

Marley:  Well can I...just look at my baby before I go to sleep?

KC:  You’re asking?  

Donna:  When you have a baby you’ll understand.  She needs all the energy she can get for those late night feedings and short naps.

Vicky:  Your life isn’t your own anymore.

KC:  You guys got money.  You can hire nannies right?

Allen:  KC.

Tyrone:  Probably not.  I don’t want my baby being raised by someone else.

Bridget walks in.

Donna:  Hi honey where have you been?

Bridget:  I just came from the nursery.  I feel sorry for that kid.

Allen:  Why you say that?

Bridget:  He has to be part of this crazy family.

Donna:  Well this crazy grandma is about to go see her grandson again before she goes home.  Anybody else coming?

NURSE’S STATION…

John and Brianna are at a computer.  

John:  You should be able to log in to your account.  I would hate to see you spend fifty bucks for a replacement badge.

Brianna:  Yeah...right.  Let’s find out where this thing is.

Brianna clicks twice.

Brianna:  Fifth floor?

John:  Maternity wing.

Brianna:  Someone scanned into the nursery.

John:  All those nurses have their own badges.  Why would they use yours to get…?  Oh no.  We gotta get down there.

NURSERY

Joy, who is dressed in hospital scrubs, with a mask over her nose and mouth, pushes Roman Montgomery’s bassinet to the door, wraps him up, and picks him up.

Kirkland quickly erases the video that Eric sent him.

Kirkland:  It’s...my dad.

Charlie:  Good ole Grant huh?

Kirkland:  Yeah dad being dad.  Hey I was headed over to see my Aunt Marley.

Charlie:  Wow she must be so excited to be a new mom.

Kirkland:  I haven’t seen her yet but I’m sure she is.

Charlie:  I think about that sometimes.

Kirkland:  Sometimes?

Charlie:  Yeah.  What it would be like to be a mother.

Kirkland:  I sure would like you to have my kids, but you gotta get cleared by a doctor first.  

Charlie:  You’re talking about my heart condition that I was born with?

Kirkland:  Yeah.

Charlie: Even so I’ve lead a perfectly normal life.  I don’t think there’s anything you need to worry about.

Steven continues leaving his voicemail message.

Steven:  I would have sent you a text but I had to say the words out of my mouth.  I love you Joy Kramer.  I’ll speak to you tomorrow morning.

Steven presses “end call” on his cell phone and smiles while two tall, big, muscular male orderlies dressed in white run by him.

Steven:  Wow.  Wonder what’s going on?

Donna, Michael, Vicky, Bridget, KC and Allen walk to the glass so that shields the babies in the nursery.

Bridget:  Wait a minute.  He was right there.

Donna:  I don’t see him.  

Vicky:  What do you mean?

Bridget:  There’s no bassinet there.

Donna:  Maybe one of the nurses took him for some tests.

Vicky:  They would have come in and told Marley and Tyrone.

Tyrone wheels Marley up to them.

Marley:  Come on come on move out of the way so I can see him.  Where is he?

John runs up to them.

Tyrone:  John what’s goin’ on?

John looks in and sees Roman is missing.

John:  There’s been an unauthorized entry into the nursery.

Marley:  What...what does that mean?

John:  Someone stole Brianna’s badge.

Tyrone:  Are you saying somebody wanted to…

John:  Your baby might be in danger.

Michael:  Reginald strikes again.

Marley:  John?  Are you trying to say...someone kidnapped my baby?

Meanwhile, Joy walks fast down a hall with Roman wrapped in a blanket.  She heads toward the stairway door, but the two orderlies and Brianna step in her way.

Brianna:  Stop!  Give me my badge...and the baby.

Joy turns around, but John and the others impede her path.  Joy is cornered and has no choice but to surrender.  Brianna unmasks her, and everyone sees that it’s Joy.

Tyrone:  Gimme my damn baby!

Marley shakes her in disbelief.

Marley: You?

Steven walks up and is also shocked.

Steven:  Joy?

Vicky:  Now do you believe me Steven?

Steven:  Joy please tell me you didn’t do this?

Toni Burrell steps in front of Vicky with an officer.

Brianna:  This woman tried to kidnap Roman Montgomery.  She used my badge to get access to the nursery.

Toni:  Good work Nurse.  Cuff her and take her downtown.  What’s your name?

Vicky:  Joy Kramer.

Toni:  Is that true?

Joy nods her head.

Toni:  Joy Kramer you’re under arrest for attempted kidnapping.

Steven can’t believe his eyes while Toni reads Joy her Miranda Rights.
