JASMINE:  She’s around I guess.
MATT:  You guess?  If you were coming to Bay City your mom would have called and told me.  Have you seen your grandfather yet?
JASMINE:  No.
MATT:  I’m surprised you haven’t hit him up.
JASMINE:  You act like I only call Grandpa Mitch when I want something.
MATT:  Well you do.
JASMINE:  I can’t help it if he spoils me.

RACHEL WALKS INTO THE LIVING ROOM.

RACHEL:  Well that’s not the only grandparent that spoils you.
JASMINE:  Gram.  Hiiiii.

JASMINE WALKS UP to RACHEL AND THEY HUG EACH OTHER.

RACHEL:  Good to see you sweetheart.  So how long are you visiting for?

JASMINE SMILES.

JASMINE:  I dunno.  Not long.  I just wanted to see my grandparents and my dad.
RACHEL:  Um hm sure you did.
JASMINE:  Gram don’t be like that.
RACHEL:  No I’m just wondering where your mother is.
JASMINE:  I’m not sure.  Maybe she went to see a friend.

AT BRADLEY O’ NEILL’S HOTEL ROOM, LILA GOES AND OPENS THE DOOR AND SEES VICKY.
Vicky Hudson

Lila Roberts

Bradley O' Neill

VICKY:  Lila?
LILA:  Vicky hey.
VICKY:  What are you doing here?
LILA:  I uh…I was just leavin’.  Brad we’ll catch up?

LILA LEAVES.  VICKY WALKS IN AND SHUTS THE DOOR.

BRADLEY:  Hey.
VICKY:  What’s going on?
BRADLEY:  Not much I…thought you’d be headed over to the hospital to see Bridget.
VICKY:  I don’t think that’s gonna happen, but I do have a question for you.
BRADLEY:  What is that?
VICKY:  How do you know Lila?
BRADLEY:  She was uh…getting a consultation.
VICKY:  In your hotel room?
BRADLEY:  We’re friends.  I knew her from back in the day.
VICKY:  Last I knew, she went back to Louisiana after she divorced Cass Winthrop.  So she came all the way up here to Bay City just for a visit with you?
BRADLEY:  Well…uh…yeah.

VICKY LOOKS AT BRADLEY AND FOLDS HER ARMS.

VICKY:  Come on Brad.  I know a lie when I hear one.  The truth this time okay?  Why is Lila REALLY here?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

AT THE HOSPITAL, FRANKIE IS IN THE WAITING AREA WHEN CASS WALKS IN.
Frankie Frame

Cass Winthrop

FRANKIE:  Did you call Cecile?
CASS:  Yes I just got off the phone with her.
FRANKIE:  Is she coming?
CASS:  Tanquir’s on lockdown.  Nobody can come or leave the island.
FRANKIE:  Oh…So Lila’s in Bay City huh?
CASS:  That’s what it sounds like.  I’ll believe when I see it.
FRANKIE:  What do you suppose she’s doing here?
CASS:  Who knows?  She’s probably making the rounds with Jasmine.
FRANKIE:  Charlie’s told me a lot about her.
CASS:  Yeah they were thicker than thieves.
FRANKIE:  It’s great that Charlie grew up in a family.  You and Lila…Jasmine.

THERE’S AN AWKWARD SILENCE BETWEEN THEM.

CASS:  I…um…I’m gonna go check with Dr. Matthews about Maggie.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

AT THE DOOR OF MAGGIE’S ROOM, RAFAEL STANDS IN FRONT OF IT AS DR. RUSS MATTHEWS WALKS UP TO HIM.
Dr. Russ Matthews

Rafael Santierro

Maggie Winthrop

RUSS:  Look, Rafael, you know what they say about a watched pot?
RAFAEL:  I get it, but I don’t wanna leave Maggie.
RUSS:  Do you really think Brianna is that much of a danger?  I really have a hard time believing that.
RAFAEL:  Look sir I can’t prove anything, but I think Brianna is going to hurt Maggie if you don’t do anything.
RUSS:  There’s nothing I need to do.  She’s an excellent nurse, and she’s not assigned to Maggie’s case.  I can assure you that Dr. Winthrop is gonna get the best care.
RAFAEL:  I don’t doubt that Dr. Matthews.  I just need to know that she’s protected.
RUSS:  You must care a lot about Dr. Winthrop.

RAFAEL PAUSES.

RAFAEL:  She’s my son’s mother and I don’t want anything to happen to her.
RUSS:  I guess I could…sympathize with that.  Listen, there’s not much more you can do here.  She’s gonna be unconscious for a while.  If there’s any change I’ll be sure to let you know.
RAFAEL:  I’m not leaving Dr. Matthews.
RUSS:  Visiting hours are gonna end soon, and security is tight here.  You should go home and get some rest.
RAFAEL:  You’ll call me when Maggie wakes up?
RUSS:  Sure, but I gotta tell you…I don’t expect her to wake up for a little while.
RAFAEL:  What are you saying Dr. Matthews?  You don’t know when Maggie’s gonna wake up?
RUSS:  I don’t.  We just have to wait.

CASS AND FRANKIE WALK UP TO THEM.

CASS:  Wait for what?
RUSS:  I was telling Rafael that he should go home and get some rest.  I would suggest you do the same.  If something changes with Maggie, you’ll be the first person I call.
CASS:  Alright.  You’re ready?
FRANKIE:  Thanks Dr. Matthews.

MEANWHILE, BRIANNA IS AROUND THE CORNER, UNSEEN BY ALL, LISTENING.

PART 2

BRADLEY:  I did some work in Louisiana.
VICKY:  So that’s how you know Lila huh?
BRADLEY:  We were never really friends, but we kept in touch.
VICKY:  What kind of work did you do?
BRADLEY:  Consulting.
VICKY:  Consulting?
BRADLEY:  Uh yeah.
VICKY:  And you’re not telling me the truth.
BRADLEY:  Why do you think that?
VICKY:  Because I know Lila.  I get the feeling she’s up to no good.
BRADLEY:  You’re not, by any chance, holding her past against her are you?
VICKY:  She tried to keep me from Shane.
BRADLEY:  You don’t have to tell me the story.  I already know it.
VICKY:  Lila’s version.
BRADLEY:  I mean what if someone held your past against you.  Shane Roberts is dead, but isn’t he part of the reason your marriage fell apart?
VICKY:  Excuse me?
BRADLEY:  Everyone makes mistakes, and you have, too.
VICKY:  I don’t believe I’m hearing this from you.
BRADLEY:  I’ve heard a lot about your past, but I don’t judge you.  I would expect you to do the same for Lila.

VICKY SHAKES HER HEAD.

VICKY:  I thought you and I were friends, but you decided to protect Lila.
BRADLEY:  What the hell are you talking about?

VICKY WALKS TOWARD THE DOOR.

BRADLEY:  Vicky where are you going?
VICKY:  I guess I’m gonna have to go it alone in this town.  I know who my real friends are.

VICKY LEAVES.

RACHEL:  I bet she made a beeline right for Cass.
JASMINE:  I don’t know that to be entirely true.
MATT:  Why wouldn’t she go see Cass?  They were married.
JASMINE:  It didn’t end too well between them.
RACHEL:   That’s terrible.
JASMINE:  They tried to keep it from me as much as possible.  They really tried to make it work.  It’s like, they kept trying to repair the car, but there was too much damage to it, and they had to get rid of it.
MATT:  I’m sorry you went through that Jas.
JASMINE:  I understood more than they realized.  Charlie was the one who was hurt more.  I could see it all over her face; the way she carried herself.  She had really grown to love my mom as her own mom.

LILA WALKS IN.

LILA:  Well hellooooo!

RACHEL WALKS UP TO LILA AND HUGS HER.

RACHEL:  Lila.  Good to see you.
LILA:  Rachel.

MATT GIVES LILA A HUG ALSO.

MATT:  What are you doing back in Bay City?
LILA:  Well…uh…because Jasmine wanted to see her daddy, her grandma and her grandpa.  Right Jasmine?
JASMINE:  Um…yeah of course.  I mean it’s been a while hasn’t it?
RACHEL:  It sure has.  Well I hope you’re staying for a little while.

RACHEL LOOKS AT MATT, WHO LOOKS AT LILA.

RACHEL:  Jasmine why don’t you come to the kitchen with me.  Hilda’s got some recipes she wanted to share.
JASMINE:  Recipes?  I don’t know how to cook.
RACHEL:  No time like the present to learn right?

RACHEL GENTLY PULLS JASMINE AS THEY BOTH LEAVE THE LIVING ROOM.  MATT TURNS TO LILA.

LILA:  Well I see things haven’t changed that much around here.
MATT:  Right.  So have you seen Cass?
LILA:  No.  Why?
MATT:  Well he is your ex husband.
LILA:  Well that don’t mean I have to go runnin’ to see him.
MATT:  Lila, this is a sore spot for you isn’t it?
LILA:  Are you serious right now?  I came to get my daughter so we can go.
MATT:  What really happened between you and Cass?

RACHEL AND JASMINE WALK IN THE LIVING ROOM.

RACHEL:  Tell everybody what you learned.
JASMINE:  Oh Gram come on I’m not eight years old.
RACHEL:  She learned that water doesn’t take that long to boil.
JASMINE:  Ha ha very funny.
LILA:  So you ready to go baby?
JASMINE:  Yeah let’s go.

LILA:  Well I’ll see y’all later.
JASMINE:  Bye dad.  Bye Gram.
MATT:  Love you.
RACHEL:  Love you sweetheart.

JASMINE HUGS MATT AND RACHEL, AND LILA DOES THE SAME AS THEY WALK OUT.

RACHEL:  You’re headed to the hospital?
MATT:  Yep.
RACHEL:  You’re gonna see Brianna?
MATT:  Yeah.
RACHEL:  Matthew…
MATT:  See ya later mom.

MATT WALKS OUT.

IN THE CAR, LILA IS DRIVING WHILE JASMINE RIDES IN THE PASSENGER’S SEAT.

JASMINE:  Cool rental car.
LILA:   Well I don’t have it for long and don’t get any ideas young lady.
JASMINE:  Geesh mom.  You should have just let me come here by myself.
LILA:  Now you know I wasn’t gon’ let that happen.
JASMINE:  I wanna go see Charlie.  I’m gonna be an aunt.
LILA:  It’s kind of late so we gon’ have to wait till tomorrow.
JASMINE:  I’m glad you arrived at grandma’s when you did.
LILA:  Why is that?
JASMINE:  I almost told them why you and Cass got a divorce.

LILA SIGHS.

LILA:  You want me to relive that.
JASMINE:  Of course I don’t mom.  But everyone’s gonna find out sooner or later that you blame Charlie’s mom.
LILA:  Frankie.  She was the reason why Cass and I broke up.  Don’t you do what I did.
JASMINE:  What’s that?
LILA:  Settling for less.  Being second.  You better pick a man who’s gon’ put you first, or you gon’ end up like Cass and me.

CASS WALKS BACK INTO THE WAITING ROOM WHERE FRANKIE WAITS.

FRANKIE:  What did Dr. Matthews tell you?
CASS:  No change.  We should probably go home.
FRANKIE:  Where’s Rafael?
CASS:  He left.
FRANKIE:  I think he’s right about Maggie being in danger.
CASS:  I do, too.  I talked to the hospital staff.  They’re gonna keep a watch.
FRANKIE:  Are you sure Maggie’s gonna be safe with Brianna on the loose?
CASS:  Brianna’s not assigned to Maggie’s case.
FRANKIE:  How can we be sure that she’s gonna be safe?  Keeping a watch is not gonna be enough.

RUSS WALKS IN.

CASS:  Dr. Matthews.
RUSS:  I talked to Toni Burrell.
FRANKIE:  What did she say?
RUSS:  She’s assigned an officer to Maggie’s room, so she should be safe.
CASS:  Thank you.
FRANKIE:  That makes me feel a little better.
CASS:  A little?
FRANKIE:  We can go home.

AT THE FRONT OF MAGGIE’S ROOM, AN OFFICER IS SITTING OUTSIDE WHEN BRIANNA WALKS UP TO HIM DRESSED IN PLAIN CLOTHES.

BRIANNA:  So you’re assigned to Dr. Winthrop’s room.  Is she in some kind of danger?
OFFICER:  I can’t say anything about that.
BRIANNA:  Okay I understand.  You’re just doing your job.
OFFICER:  Is there something you need?
BRIANNA:  No just…admiring that all the stops have been pulled to protect Dr. Winthrop.
OFFICER:  I’m not letting anyone in except Dr. Matthews and Nurse Shelley Bray.  And you don’t look like Shelley Bray.
BRIANNA:  No I’m not.  I come as a friend.
OFFICER:  I know you work here Nurse Jameson.
BRIANNA:  I do.  Dr. Winthrop and I have worked on a lot of cases together, and we’ve become friends.  I hate that this happened to her.  I wish I could have been there to help.  I really would like to see her.
OFFICER:  Okay.  Don’t be long.
BRIANNA:  This wont take long.  Thanks officer.

BRIANNA WALKS INSIDE MAGGIE’S ROOM.  MAGGIE IS HOOKED UP TO A BEEPING VENTILATOR AS SHE LIES UNCONSCIOUS.  BRIANNA SLOWLY WALKS UP TO MAGGIE, AND LEANS IN.

BRIANNA:  You’re awfully hard to kill.

  1. You'd think the meathead cop would at least know WHO he's meant to be protecting Maggie from! YEESH!

Decent episode, yet again. I would've liked to see Matt and Lila's talk about Cass and Jasmine go a liiiiitttle longer, just so we could maybe get another hint or two in there, let the scene breathe a bit. But the whole setup felt very well done, and I think Jasmine fits in like a glove. Great casting, and she gives such a good energy. Lila has been a breath of fresh air as well.

Raphael is right to not want to leave. It's frustrating that the cop assigned to Maggie's room got snowed so easily (then again, are we really all that surprised?) Frankie and Cass are right to be worried, I sense that it's gonna come down to the wire very soon!

Vicky realizes something is off about Bradley, and she DEFINITELY did not like him sticking up for Lila. Vicky always has been the type that if you don't 120% agree/support her all the time, you're against her. Very well done scene there, it felt incredibly natural, and I love the conflict it sets up.

Another well-connected episode that flowed beautifully. Excellent job!
