IN A LIMOUSINE, DEVIN AND FELICIA ARE SITTING SIDE BY SIDE IN THE BACK ON THE BLACK LEATHER SEATS AS THEY ARE BEING DRIVEN. THE LIGHTS IN THE BACK DIMLY SHINE ON THEIR FACES.
Billy Flynn as Devin Lucas Hutchins |
Linda Dano as Felicia Gallant Blake |
FELICIA: I don’t know about this Devin.
DEVIN: Come on grandma stop it. This is the best thing for all involved.
FELICIA: I need to face what I’ve done.
DEVIN: Have you thought about Christy? What she might do if she finds out you caused that accident?
FELICIA: Christy can’t get to me in jail.
DEVIN: You practically know everybody in Bay CIty. She can get to any one of them. What if she tries to hurt mom or Aunt Jenna? Is that what you want?
DEVIN ADJUSTS HIMSELF IN THE SEAT AND FACES HER DIRECTLY.
DEVIN: You could put everyone you love in danger. From what I’ve heard Christy is crazy. If she can’t get to you, she might try to get to someone you love, and that’s a lot of people.
FELICIA: You and Mitch are very convincing.
DEVIN: See grandma, you’re protecting everyone by not going to the police.
FELICIA: I can’t let my husband take the fall for this. How am I gonna live with myself?
DEVIN: We’ll get him out, and he’ll join you. Right now, let’s focus on getting to the airport and getting you outta here.
SUDDENLY THE CAR IS SLOWING DOWN.
DEVIN: Hey what’s goin on?
DEVIN PRESSES THE POWER WINDOW BUTTON SO HE CAN SEE OUTSIDE. HE THEN PRESSES THE BUTTON THE CLOSE THE WINDOW.
DEVIN: Oh no!
FELICIA: What’s wrong?
DEVIN: Traffic. We’re stuck.

William Espy as Mitch Blake |
Rhonda Ross Kendrick as Toni Burrell |
AT THE POLICE STATION, MITCH HAS ASKED TONI TO ARREST HIM, BUT SHE REFUSES.
MITCH: I’m not lying.
TONI: Mr. Blake are you going to do this?
MITCH: I’m giving you a confession, and you’re wondering why I’m doing it?
TONI: Well, there are a lot of things you haven’t considered.
MITCH: There’s nothing to think about. I was driving the car on Route 17 that night. I hit Christy’s car head on, which also caused the car Gregory was driving to swerve and hit the tree.
TONI: You know if you want me to lock you up, I will, but not for causing that accident.
MITCH: So what are you waiting for?
TONI: I’m waiting for you stop lying, and tell the truth.
MITCH: I am telling the truth.
TONI: You are protecting the real hit and run driver...your wife. Do us all a favor and tell us where she is.
MITCH: I’m not sure.
TONI: I’m gonna add lying to a police officer to your fast growing list of charges.
MITCH: I’m not sure what you mean. I was driving Felicia’s car that night, and I caused the accident. I don’t know what else I need to tell you.
TONI: We will find her, Mitch, and quickly. I’d much rather not use manpower and resources to do it. If you tell us where we can go pick her up, you will make things much easier on everyone.
MITCH: You don’t have to pick her up. You have your culprit right in front of you.
TONI TURNS HER BACK TO MITCH, TAKES OUT HER CELL PHONE, AND MAKES A CALL.
TONI: This is Burrell. I want an APB put out on Felicia Gallant Blake. I want the roads blocked. Check the bus stations, the airport, wherever. Pick her up as soon as you see her and bring her to the station.
TONI TURNS AROUND AND FACES MITCH.
TONI: Now, do you wanna stop playing games and tell me the truth? Or should I break things down to you?
MITCH: I’m not playing any games. I’m confessing to causing that accident.
Why do you think I’m lying?
TONI: Because there’s no possible way that you were the hit and run driver.

Denyse Tontz as Michele McKinnon |
James Black as Dr. Maurice Bingham |
MICHELE IS IN DR. MAURICE BINGHAM’S OFFICE SITTING ON HIS BROWN LEATHER COUCH. MAURICE IS SITTING IN AN OFFICE CHAIR ACROSS FROM HER.
MAURICE (looking at his watch): That’s time.
MICHELE (standing up and grabbing her backpack): It went by so fast.
MAURICE: The good sessions usually do.
MICHELE: I...think this was very helpful. I wasn’t too sure at first.
MAURICE: Sometimes it helps to be able to talk to someone who’s objective, as opposed to your brother, who’s inclined to be more sentimental.
MICHELE: I guess it makes sense now.
MAURICE: My assistant will be in touch with you to schedule the next session. If you change your mind just let me know.
MICHELE: Oh I’ll be back. This session made me feel so much better.
MAURICE (smiling): Good. See ya next time.
MICHELE WALKS OUT OF THE OFFICE AND CLOSES THE DOOR. SHE LOOKS TO HER LEFT, THEN TO HER RIGHT, AND LEAVES.
-------
David Forsyth as Dr. John Hudson |
Amelia Marshall as Dr. Thomasina Mason |
MEANWHILE, THOMASINA AND JOHN WALK INTO THOMASINA’S OFFICE. THOMASINA WALKS OVER TO HER DESK, SITS DOWN, AND SHAKES HER HEAD. JOHN SITS ACROSS FROM HER ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE DESK.
THOMASINA: You did warn me.
JOHN: The board? Yeah. They’re tough, but even this proposal I couldn’t understand why they wouldn’t approve more funding.
THOMASINA: The pilot program for the tablets is working great for the doctors. We’re saving money on paper and patients are being served quicker with their prescriptions.
JOHN: I have to be honest it’s gonna...take some getting used to.
THOMASINA: I’ve heard nothing but good things about it from the staff.
JOHN: But you know, they’re gonna have to upgrade the firewall. I just couldn’t understand why they wouldn’t approve funding that we need for that.
THOMASINA: I didn’t either. I mean what is it going to take for them to fork over the money? The last thing this hospital needs is a security breach.
-------
MEANWHILE, SOMEONE IS LEAVING A ROOM, AND BEFORE THE DOOR CAN CLOSE, MICHELE STOPS IT WITH HER RIGHT HAND, AND ENTERS. SHE LOOKS AROUND AND SEES THE HOSPITAL SERVER. SHE FINDS A TABLE, AND TAKES OUT HER LAPTOP.
CAMERA PAN ON MICHELE...SLOW FADE TO THEME SONG.
----
PART 2
JOHN: Tell me about it. This hospital’s been through scandal before. In 1995 Cass Winthrop sued the hospital. It affected a lot of people.
THOMASINA: I heard about that, but it recovered right? Bay City Medical Center is still here, and growing.
JOHN: Yep...sure is. Well I...gotta get back to my office.
JOHN GETS UP AND BEGINS TO WALK AWAY.
THOMASINA: John.
JOHN LOOKS BACK AT THOMASINA.
THOMASINA: Thank you. I really appreciate the help you’ve been giving me.
JOHN: Yeah...of course. Don’t be discouraged about the board’s decision.
THOMASINA: I’m not. I’m just concerned that it’s gonna take a real security breach for the board to give us the funding we need for a stronger firewall.
JOHN: Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.
----
MEANWHILE, MICHELE IS IN THE SERVER ROOM ON HER LAPTOP.
MICHELE: There it is.
ON HER SCREEN, SHE SEES BRIDGET MCKINNON, TYPES IN SOMETHING, HITS ENTER, AND CLOSES HER LAPTOP.
----
AT THE POLICE STATION…
MITCH: If you knew anything you’d have me booked by now.
TONI: We traced your credit card.
MITCH: So?
TONI: Charged a ride from the airport to Bay City Center about an hour before the accident happened.
MITCH: I went for a drive after I got back to town.
TONI: Is that the story you’re sticking to? Your credit card was charged again. Traffic cameras place Felicia’s car on Route 17 at around 835pm. You spoke to a guy at L&L catering at around 828. We obtained a copy of the phone records. We confirmed that the call came from your and Felicia’s suite. The guy at the catering company spoke to a guy named...well...you know. And...your credit card was charged again. You were planning a dinner for Felicia.
MITCH: What...does this all mean?
TONI: Oh I’m not finished. You checked Felicia into Cedars Hospital in Springfield under Ember Snow about an hour and a half after the accident happened. I gotta tell ya that was real clever, but I read Embers in the Snow. Crass was my favorite character.
MITCH: Felicia will be pleased that you like one of her books.
TONI: We also obtained surveillance footage from Tops. Felicia took a drink...at around 825pm. You see, you couldn’t possibly be...the hit and run driver. The police will be picking up your wife...at any moment.
----
DEVIN AND FELICIA ARE IN THE BACKSEAT OF A LIMOUSINE RIDING.
DEVIN: We finally got moving again.
FELICIA: I really hope this works.
DEVIN: It will grandma. It’s all gonna work out.
SUDDENLY THE LIMOUSINE IS SLOWING DOWN.
DEVIN: What the hell is going on now?
DEVIN USES THE POWER WINDOW BUTTON TO ROLL IT DOWN. THIS TIME, DANTE IS OUTSIDE THE WINDOW SURROUNDED BY CARS WITH THE BLUE POLICE LIGHTS ILLUMINATING HIS BACKGROUND.
DANTE: Hello Devin. Mrs. Blake. We’re turning this car around.
DEVIN: Where are we going?
DANTE: Downtown.
DEVIN AND FELICIA LOOK AT EACH OTHER WITH WORRY.
FREEZE FRAME ON FELICIA...SLOW FADE OUT...END OF EPISODE 263
Yep. Felicia is caught. And now Mitch and Devin are in deep for trying to protect her. Oh damn. Mitch was trying so hard to cover Felicia’s butt, but to no avail. Felicia is caught. Once again, I just hope the whole truth of Christy’s part in the proceedings comes to light. I know, of course, that it will, eventually!
ReplyDeleteGreat tight episode once again. I really enjoyed every beat. Michele seemed to have been helped by her session, but obviously nothing changed. Her vitriol towards her sister is as strong as ever. Wow, and breaching security to change her file. Huge!
I also loved the juxtaposition of John and Thomasina discussing the tablets and the board’s decision not to grant additional funding for security with Michele’s breach. Plays up the severity of the situation perfectly. Michele is playing a game that could adversely affect a LOT of people.
A great episode with a lot of ups and downs in a very sleek package. Excellent work.
