BRIANNA: Not that I know of why?
NURSE: I really gotta get back to the desk, but he has to have these charts for Mrs. Burns’ physical therapy so he can make a decision on her discharge.
BRIANNA: Why don’t you go back? I’ll take them to him.
NURSE: Thank you so much.

BRIANNA WALKS UP TO JOHN’S OFFICE, AND NOTICES THE DOOR IS AJAR, BUT INSTEAD OF GOING IN SHE DECIDES TO LISTEN TO HIS CONVERSATION WITH SHARLENE, WHO IS TALKING ON HER HANDS FREE BLUETOOTH WHILE DRIVING.

JOHN: I got a few things to wrap up here and I’ll be home to change.

SHARLENE: You don’t have to rush. I mean it isn’t that far right?

JOHN: Yeah but I wanna enjoy all the time I can with you in the Windy City.

SHARLENE (smiling): Aww how sweet. What’s in it for you?

JOHN: Hmm I can think of a few things.

SHARLENE: Is that so?

JOHN: We’re gonna stay the night.
--
SHARLENE: Woooww...in that case, I can’t wait to see what you have planned.

JOHN: Oh just you wait Mrs. Hudson.

SHARLENE: I’ll see you soon.

JOHN: You got it.
BRIANNA THEN KNOCKS ON THE DOOR.
JOHN: Come in.
BRIANNA: Hi Dr. Hudson.
JOHN: Brianna whatcha got for me?
BRIANNA: These are Mrs. Burns’ charts.
JOHN: Great I was looking for those. Thank you.
JOHN PUTS THEM ON HIS DESK AS BRIANNA TURNS AROUND TO WALK OUT, BUT SHE TURNS BACK AROUND TO FACE JOHN.
BRIANNA: You must really love your job.
JOHN: I do. Why do you say that?
BRIANNA: Because you’re glowing...you look happy.
JOHN: Yeah...yeah I am.
BRIANNA: I bet Sharlene has something to do with that. She seems like a very lovely woman.
JOHN: I’m very lucky to have her after everything we’ve been through together.
BRIANNA: Some people...never ever find a love like that, no matter how hard they look. Enjoy it while it lasts.
JOHN: I definitely intend to.
BRIANNA: Well I’ll see ya.
JOHN: Yeah.

MEANWHILE, DR. RUSS MATTHEWS IS WALKING THROUGH A HALL AND IS ON HIS CELL PHONE WITH IRIS, WHO IS AT HER OFFICE AT KBAY.

IRIS: Russ hi. I’m really really busy.

RUSS: Are you now?

IRIS: I’m trying to get things in order for this board meeting.

RUSS: Another day another gathering huh?

IRIS: This is not just any meeting. This is dealing with the merger.

RUSS: Oh okay. So I guess you won’t be able to have dinner with me tonight.

IRIS: I’m so sorry. I can’t, but...I’m free tomorrow night. Is that good?

RUSS: Perfect. I’ll pick you up tomorrow at seven.

IRIS: Good.

RUSS HANGS UP AND A BRIANNA WALKS UP TO HIM WITH A FOLDER.
BRIANNA: Dr. Matthews there’s a patient in Room 350. Here’s his chart and family history.
RUSS: One of the other doctors couldn’t handle it?
BRIANNA: No. After looking at this I thought you would be the best doctor to handle it.
RUSS LOOKS OVER THE CHARTS AND REALIZES WHO IT IS..
RUSS: Dizziness; collapsed; headache.
BRIANNA: We had a CT Scan done in the ER. The results should be available on the doctor portal.
RUSS: Perfect. I’ll go look at them now. Good work Brianna.
BRIANNA: Thank you Doctor.

PART 2 AT BAY CITY MEDICAL CENTER
STACEY TENDS TO LINDSAY.
STACEY: Honey are you okay?
LINDSAY: I’m fine mom.
STACEY: I’m not gonna let Donna blame you for her own daughter’s failures.
DONNA: This isn’t an attack. It’s a statement of fact.
STACEY: I don’t have to explain any of this to you.
DONNA: You lied about Jake being Lindsay’s father, and now Victoria and Jake are divorced.
STACEY: If Jake and Vicky are divorced it’s because of Jake and Vicky. I have nothing to do with it, and neither does my daughter.
MICHAEL GOES TO STACEY AND STANDS NEXT TO HER.
MICHAEL: Donna will you stop it?
DONNA: What? You defend her?
MICHAEL: You’re acting like an ass!
DONNA (placing her right hand on her chest): Me? Whose side are you on here?
MICHAEL: I’m on the side of what’s right and you are wrong right now.
DONNA: Well since I’m so wrong, why don’t you sleep on the right side of the sofa tonight!
DONNA WALKS AWAY AND MICHAEL TURNS TO STACEY.
MICHAEL: I’m sorry about that.
STACEY: You don’t have to apologize for her behavior.
MICHAEL: She was completely out of line.
STACEY: I don’t need you to defend me.
MICHAEL: But I wanted to.
MICHAEL GOES TO HUG STACEY BUT SHE PULLS BACK.
STACEY: This is a little too familiar Michael. Remember? I’m not going through this again.
STACEY WALKS AWAY AND LEAVES MICHAEL STUNNED.

MEANWHILE, RUSS FLASHES A MAG LIGHT INTO HIS PATIENT’S EYES. THE PATIENT IS DEVIN LUCAS HUTCHINS…

RUSS: You’re scared aren’t you?
DEVIN: Yeah. I just got this big headache and next thing you know I’m here.
RUSS: Well I looked at your CT Scan results.
DEVIN: Well?
RUSS: It’s not a brain tumor. You had a migraine. Very treatable. I’ve prescribed you some medication already. All you have to do is pick them up.
DEVIN: But didn’t my father’s symptoms start with headaches?
RUSS: Trust me there’s nothing for you to worry about. You have no signs of a brain tumor. You’re in the clear.
RUSS LEAVES THE ROOM AND DEVIN LUCAS FOLLOWS. RUSS WALKS ONE WAY AND DEVIN WALKS THE OTHER. HE SEES LINDSAY TALKING TO A MALE PATIENT, AND COMES CLOSER. LINDSAY’S BACK IS TURNED TO DEVIN.
LINDSAY: Mr. Adams, you had a great session today. You have made so much progress.
MR. ADAMS: Thank you. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have half the confidence I have to recover.
LINDSAY: You know a full recovery starts with a good attitude. If you have a positive attitude, you progress quickly, and you’ve been positive throughout your therapy.
DEVIN LOOKS AT LINDSAY TALKING TO THE PATIENT AND SEEMS IMPRESSED.

MEANWHILE...RUSS IS WALKING DOWN THE HALL WHEN HE GETS AN ALERT ON HIS PHONE.
RUSS: Are you kidding? This can’t be.

JOHN IS IN HIS OFFICE ON HIS COMPUTER WHEN HE CHECKS HIS EMAIL, AND ONE CATCHES HIS EYE.
JOHN: Hello Dr. Hudson, we regret to inform you that you have not been...we have gone in another direction for the Chief of Staff position? What?

THOMASINA: Well I have to wait until I hear back.
JOY: Hear back from whom?
THOMASINA GETS A PHONE CALL ON HER CELL PHONE.
THOMASINA: Hello? This is Thomasina Mason. Oh...oh my God. Umm yeah….yeah I accept! I will be there tomorrow. Thank you. Thank you.
THOMASINA HANGS UP AND TURNS TO JOY.
JOY: What was that?
THOMASINA: I guess I can tell you now. Why I came back to Bay City.
JOY: Okay?
THOMASINA: Because I have just been named Chief of Staff of Bay City Medical Center.
JOY: Oh wow. Congratulations!
JOY GETS UP AND HUGS THOMASINA.
THOMASINA: I’ve been looking forward to this day for a long long time.
FREEZE FRAME ON THOMASINA...SLOW FADE OUT...END OF EPISODE 238
THis was a good episode. Everything felt relaxxed and there was more attention to detail. I really enjoyed all the hosptial scenes in part one.

I know John is going to be devastated esp losing out to a newbie. A young one at that.
Devin is interested in Linds.
I really enjoyed Donn'a scene with Stacy. Donna was out of line and even more so when SHe told Micheal that he was sleeping on the couch. It was nice that this story was recapped.
Johns convo with SHarlene was also very nice.
This is a great episode. If it weren't the big reveal of the COS, I'dve called it the telephone game. SO many phone conversations. But it worked.
ReplyDeleteDonna going after Stacey was excellent. A lot of history between these women and you played it up. Great move. Michael once again not knowing his boundaries with Stacey. He'll pay for that later.
Brianna showing herself to be a rising star at the hospital, too bad it's all a front. She's bound to unravel soon enough. I love that juxtaposition between Brianna's professional care and her outrageous behaviour off the clock. Great work there.
Russ and John finding out the bad news. I'd almost have liked to see it happen in a big meeting with Iris giving the bad news ever-so-dramatically, but I love the surprise of Thomasina, who has been removed from a lot of the action so far, getting the job. Awesome finish!
