Jake appeals to Lindsay
Devin makes Donna an offer
Joy questions Thomasina

Billy Flynn as Devin Lucas Hutchins
LOVE MANSION...DONNA WALKS THROUGH THE FOYER TO THE FRONT DOOR AND OPENS IT…
Anna Stuart as Donna Love

DONNA:  Devin...come in.

DEVIN LOOKS STRAIGHT AHEAD AS HE WALKS INTO THE LIVING ROOM WITH DONNA FOLLOWING.

DONNA:  What brings you by?  I must say it’s strange seeing you here.

DEVIN STOPS AND LOOKS AROUND, THEN TURNS AROUND AND FACES DONNA.

DEVIN:  The famous Love Mansion.  I heard about this place.
DONNA:  Hmm I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing.
DEVIN:  Your father lived here right?
DONNA:  Can we please not bring that man up?
DEVIN:  Oh...sorry.  People have said the same about my father.
DONNA:  We will all miss him.  I was married to him way before you were born.
DEVIN:  I know.
DONNA:  I don’t think you came here to share memories of Carl.
DEVIN:  You’re right.  I didn’t.  I...want to talk about a piece of property that you own...by the water.
DONNA:  The Harbor Club?  There’s no club there now.  My father paid someone to burn it down.
DEVIN:  That’s unfortunate.  Are you planning on rebuilding?

DONNA LOOKS AT DEVIN QUIZZICALLY AND CROSSES HER ARMS.

DONNA:  Why?
DEVIN:  You can turn your loss into a gain.
DONNA:  You sound like a salesman.
DEVIN:  I appreciate the compliment but I’m not trying to sell you anything.  As a matter of fact, I’m looking to buy.
DONNA:  Buy what?  Wait...you wanna buy the land that the Harbor Club was on?
DEVIN:  Yep.  I promise I’ll offer you a fair price.
DONNA:  Well the land’s not for sale so forget it.

---------

AT BAY CITY MEDICAL CENTER, LINDSAY IS AT THE NURSE’S STATION WITH A CHART TALKING TO ONE OF THE NURSES.
Kate Mansi as Lindsay Winthrop

LINDSAY:  Mrs. Burns session went well.  She’s making a lot of progress.
NURSE:  I’ll let Dr. Hudson know.  She should be able to discharge soon.
LINDSAY:  That’s great news.

THE NURSE LEAVES WITH THE CHART.  LINDSAY TURNS AROUND AND SEES A WOMAN SITTING ON A CHAIR PLAYING WITH HER BABY, AND SHE PURSES HER LIPS IN SADNESS.  SHE TAKES A DEEP BREATH TO COMPOSE HERSELF, AND JAKE WALKS UP TO HER FROM HER RIGHT.
Tom Eplin as Jake McKinnon

JAKE:  Hey.
LINDSAY:  Umm...Jake hi.

JAKE LOOKS AT THE WOMAN WITH THE BABY AND THINKS QUICKLY…

JAKE:  You got a few minutes?  Let’s...go grab a bite or something.
LINDSAY:  My next patient isn’t due for another hour or so.  I’d like that.

LINDSAY SMILES.

-------

Denise Vasi as Joy Kramer
HOUSE...THOMASINA IS IN THE LIVING ROOM AND JOY WALKS IN WITH A SUITCASE.
Amelia Marshall as Thomasina Mason

THOMASINA:  I thought you’d never make it.
JOY:  A girl’s gotta pack all of her stuff.
THOMASINA:  I definitely understand that.
JOY:  Your room’s on the left upstairs.

JOY PLOPS ON THE COUCH.

JOY:  Can I take it up later?  I’m beat from the moving.
THOMASINA:  Yeah but don’t keep your stuff down here too long.  You know I don’t like a dirty house.
JOY:  Yes yes yes I know.
THOMASINA:  You know I was...glad that I was able to get in touch with Dana when I did.  I didn’t know Reginald was forcing you to do all of those other things.  I knew about the kidnapping but not the other stuff.

JOY SIGHS.

JOY:  I did what I had to do.  He was trying to kill you.  That’s what he does.  He goes after your loved ones to get you to do his bidding.
THOMASINA:  This town has had its share of evil people.
JOY:  They say Carl was, too.
THOMASINA:  Was?
JOY:  He...died the other night.  He had a brain tumor.  A lot of people were really sad about it.

THOMASINA IS SILENT FOR A FEW SECONDS.

THOMASINA:  Oh.
JOY:  There wasn’t a dry eye in the place.
THOMASINA:  That really surprises me.  The Carl I remember was a calculating, unscrupulous sociopath.
JOY:  You knew Carl?  I mean before he changed?
THOMASINA:  Know Carl?  I hated Carl.  People like that don’t change.  They modify their behavior, but their cores are still evil.  As far as I’m concerned he got what was coming to him.
JOY:  Why?  What happened?
THOMASINA:  My son had to grow up without his father because of Carl.  He killed my husband.
JOY:  Grant Todd?  Carl killed him?
THOMASINA:  Yes.
JOY:  Oh...I had no idea.  I’m sorry you had to go through that.
THOMASINA:  I don’t care what anyone else says.  Carl Hutchins was no saint in my eyes.

-----------

DEVIN:  I didn’t mean to just spring this on you.
DONNA:  More like dump.
DEVIN:  I think Bay City needs something new; something vibrant; something that gives...freedom.
DONNA:  And hypothetically speaking, if I sell you the land, and I’m not saying that I will, what do you plan to do with it?
DEVIN:  I wanna build a club of my own.
DONNA:  Wow that’s original.  Replacing one club with another.  Why should I sell you the rights to the land just to put another club on it?
DEVIN:  This town needs a...younger touch to it.
DONNA:  Excuse me?  Are you calling me old?
DEVIN:  No...no that’s not what I meant.  I meant that...the Harbor Club catered to an older, upscale crowd.
DONNA:  And just what kind of crowd is your club going to cater to?  Younger people?  We old people don’t count?
DEVIN:  You’re misunderstanding what I’m saying.

MICHAEL WALKS INTO THE LIVING ROOM AND DONNA WALKS UP TO HIM.
Kale Browne as Michael Hudson

DEVIN:  Hello Michael.
MICHAEL:  Devin Lucas.  What are you doing here?
DONNA:  He wants to buy the land that the Harbor Club was on.  How ridiculous is that?
MICHAEL:  Donna that may not be such a bad idea.

DONNA LOOKS AT MICHAEL WITH AMAZEMENT…
CAMERA PAN ON DONNA...SLOW FADE TO THEME SONG.

---------

AT THE CENTER, JAKE AND LINDSAY SIT ACROSS FROM EACH OTHER AT ONE OF THE TABLES…

LINDSAY:  I’m sorry about what happened with Vicky.  I somehow feel it’s my fault.
JAKE:  It’s definitely not your fault.
LINDSAY:  I mean if I hadn’t come to town looking for you, maybe you guys could have worked things out.  My mom begged me not to tell you.
JAKE:  We don’t have to rehash that whole situation.
LINDSAY:  I didn’t wanna lie to you.  Bridget still hates me because I didn’t tell the truth.
JAKE:  That’s...kind of why I came to see you.  I don’t really wanna talk about Vicky and the divorce.
LINDSAY:  Is it about Bridget and Michele?
JAKE:  Look I...I want you to be a part of their lives...our lives.  At Kirkland and Charlie’s wedding I said that I wanted to build a relationship and I meant it.
LINDSAY:  I understand.  You’ve had a lot going on since that time.
JAKE:  We all need you Lindsay...your sisters especially.
LINDSAY:  I mean I don’t know how to approach them.
JAKE:  I need you to...bond with the girls.  They need their older sister, and I need my eldest daughter.
LINDSAY:  This is...quite an adjustment.  I always thought of Derek as my dad growing up.  Then I find out you’re my dad.
JAKE:  I want you to feel like you have family here.
LINDSAY:  I got my mom, Cass, Charlie, Frankie.
JAKE:  More than them.  You’re part of your dad’s family, too you know?

LINDSAY SMILES.

LINDSAY:  That’s really sweet.
JAKE:  I’m serious.  You can come to me for anything.  I was thrilled to know that I had another child.
LINDSAY:  You really...cheered me up after…
JAKE:  You saw that woman in the hospital with her baby.
LINDSAY:  I’m...you know what.  I’m not gonna focus on that.  I can have children other ways.
JAKE:  That’s the McKinnon in you.  Bouncing back.
LINDSAY:  I’m gonna get back to the hospital.

THEY BOTH STAND.

JAKE:  Give your old man a hug.

LINDSAY AND JAKE EMBRACE, AND FROM A SHORT DISTANCE, MICHELE SEES THEM.

---------------

JOY:  Wow.  How...did it happen?
THOMASINA:  He ingested some poison by accident.  Carl was actually trying to kill someone else, but he offed my husband instead.
JOY:  Have you...forgiven him for it?
THOMASINA:  A long time ago.  To carry around that hatred wasn’t good for my son.  I let it go for him mostly.
JOY:  I never ever knew you were carrying this around.  Such a painful memory.
THOMASINA:  Yeah...but I’m pretty much over it.
JOY:  So why did you come back to the city where your husband died?

---------------

MICHAEL:  Well you weren’t planning on rebuilding anyway were you?
DONNA:  No but…
MICHAEL:  So then what are you holding on to?  Rid yourself of the property taxes.
DEVIN (smiling):  Listen to the man.
DONNA:  I reopened the Harbor Club.  I poured my heart into that.
MICHAEL:  I know dear, but Devin is willing to take it off of your hands.  I think you should sell.

DONNA LOOKS BACK AND FORTH AT MICHAEL AND DEVIN.

DONNA:  Well alright.  I’ll ask Cass to draw up the papers.
DEVIN:  I knew you’d make the right decision.

SUDDENLY DEVIN GRABS HIS HEAD.

DONNA:  Devin?  Are you alright?
DEVIN:  Wow...headache.

DEVIN COLLAPSES ONTO THE COUCH.

DONNA:  Oh my God.  Michael call 9-1-1.

  1. Something is wrong with devin. I liked his scene with donna. I was surprised by her tone but the conversation was still good.

It was so nice seeing jake being a dad. Not only did he make lindsay happy buy she made him happy to considering everything he's been through and Michelle watches the scene from a far. I know this wont b good.

From his fresh grave secrets about carl are coming out. Joy is there for revenge. This scene was also nice as we got to see parts of joys past.

Things r slowing down a bit and i really enjoyed everything.

  2. Uh oh. Devin having them Nick Fallon headaches! Haha

Strong, focused episode centred around character and history. I'm really enjoying Devin trying to settle into Bay City, and starting a business is a great step. Donna's reluctant to sell, The Harbour Club meant a lot to her, but if she wasn't going to rebuild, well...let's just say I'm glad Michael helped her see sense.

Thomasina and Joy going into Thomasina's history with Carl. Great history there. It can really inform story going forward. How Thomasina will interact with the Corys will be affected by this, surely. Can't wait.

It feels like in Jake and Lindsay's scene that Lindsay is so deep in her head that she's in a different headspace from her father. He's trying to make sure Lindsay builds a relationship with him and his family, but Lindsay is so down and so wrapped up in her own problems, it's hard for her to even focus or find a way to make that possible. It'll be interesting to see how she tries to make inroads with Bridget and Michelle.

I love the tone and pacing here. It's very character driven and moves at the right speed. Great stuff there.

    Strong writing as always!
