PAULINA ENDS THE CALL, AND OPENS THE DOOR.  JAKE IS STANDING THERE.
 
PAULINA:  I didn’t invite you over here.
JAKE:  Can we talk?
PAULINA:  I don’t have anything to say to you.
JAKE:  Well then you can listen.
PAULINA:  I’m on my way to meet Dante.
JAKE:  This…it won’t take long.  Please.
 
PAULINA PURSES HER LIPS AND FOLDS HER ARMS.
 
PAULINA:  Start talking.  You’ve got five minutes.
JAKE:  You gotta understand why I did what I did.
PAULINA:  FOUR!
JAKE:  I didn’t want Michele to wiggle out of it.  I wanted it to stop.
PAULINA: THREE!
JAKE:  Paulina come on.

PAULINA SHOVES JAKE OUT THE DOOR AND SHE FOLLOWS HIM AND SHUTS THE DOOR.
 
PAULINA:  I don’t wanna listen to anyone who humiliates their own child.  Bye.

PAULINA WALKS AWAY, LEAVING JAKE STANDING AT THE DOORWAY.

AT THE HOSPITAL, DEVIN IS WALKING WITH FELICIA.
 
FELICIA:  I appreciate you coming with me but you didn’t have to do bring me to my AA meeting.  I’m sure you’ve got other things to do.
DEVIN: Grandma I told Mitch I’d bring you so he can take care of his business.  He’s gonna pick you up.
FELICIA:  How’s the club going?
DEVIN:  Opening night was a big success.
FELICIA:  That’s fantastic.  I’m happy to hear that.
DEVIN:  I called mom and told her.  She was over the moon.
FELICIA:  Lorna is proud of you, as I am.
DEVIN:  You’re laying it on thick aren’t you?
FELICIA:  I’m not buttering you up.  I mean it.  You took a chance and it’s paying off.  I know the club will be a continued success.
DEVIN:  I hope so.
FELICIA:  Oh honey it will.  Just keep doing what you’ve been doing.  My meeting is about to start.
DEVIN:  Alright I’ll wait around until Mitch gets here.

LINDSAY:  Hey.
DEVIN:  Hey.
LINDSAY:  What brings you to the hospital?
DEVIN:  I was dropping my grandmother off to her A.A. meeting.
LINDSAY:  You do it all don’t you?  Run a club; limo service.
DEVIN:  I gotta…I gotta go.
 
DEVIN WALKS PAST LINDSAY AND LINDSAY STOPS HIM.
 
LINDSAY:  Devin.  What’s going on?  Is everything alright?
DEVIN:  Lindsay we can’t be doing this.  I have to leave.
LINDSAY:  Does this have to do with what happened in your office?
DEVIN:  Look it’s…it’s nothing okay.  I gotta get to the club.
LINDSAY:  Can we talk in private?

SOMEONE KNOCKS ON THE DOOR OF BRIANNA’S APARTMENT.  SHE LOOKS THROUGH THE PEEPHOLE, SMILES AND OPENS IT.  IT’S MATT.

BRIANNA:  Baby!  It’s so good to see you.  I’m almost packed and ready to go.
 
BRIANNA HUGS MATT, BUT HE DOESN’T HUG HER BACK.  HE WALKS PAST BRIANNA AND SHE SHUTS THE DOOR.
 
BRIANNA:  Matthew what’s going on?
 
MATT TAKES OUT THE CONTENTS HE GOT IN THE ENVELOPE HE RECEIVED AND HOLDS IT UP.
 
MATT:  Tell me this isn’t true.
BRIANNA:  What?  What are you talking about? 
MATT:  This!
 
CAMERA PAN ON MATT.  SLOW FADE OUT.  FADE IN TO THEME SONG.

LINDSAY AND DEVIN GO INTO AN EMPTY EXAM ROOM.
 
DEVIN:  Lindsay what is there to talk about?
LINDSAY:  Something’s off about you.
DEVIN:  Because I can’t go back to the way things were before we…
 
LINDSAY BOWS HER HEAD AND LOOKS BACK UP AT DEVIN.
 
LINDSAY:  Devin you know I’m with Gregory.
DEVIN:  So the kiss…it didn’t mean anything to you?
LINDSAY:  It caught me off guard.  Maybe it was the atmosphere in the club or…but I’m committed to Gregory. 
DEVIN:  You didn’t answer my question. 
 
DEVIN SLOWLY WALKS UP TO LINDSAY. 
 
DEVIN:  What did that kiss mean to you? 
 
LINDSAY DOES NOT MOVE, AS SHE AND DEVIN COME FACE TO FACE.  LINDSAY TAKES A DEEP BREATH. 
 
LINDSAY:  It’s not that simple.
DEVIN:  I just couldn’t hold back anymore.  I had to let my feelings…
LINDSAY:  Feelings?  What are you saying to me Devin?
DEVIN:  I kissed you because I…I have feelings for you, and I think you felt something, too.

AT THE CORYS, RACHEL IS SITTING IN THE LIVING ROOM AT THE TABLE BY THE FOYER.  SHE IS ON HER LAPTOP AS PAULINA WALKS IN.  RACHEL IS ON HER CELL PHONE.

RACHEL:  This is Rachel Cory Hutchins.  I’m looking at your proposal for the carriage house renovation and I’d like to make a counteroffer.  Please call me when you get this.
 
PAULINA:  So the carriage house is getting a makeover?
RACHEL:  Paulina hi!    Yes that’s the plan.  Please come in.
 
RACHEL GETS UP AND THEY HUG.
 
RACHEL:  It’s good to see you.
PAULINA:  I hope I’m not interrupting.
RACHEL:  Don’t be silly.  You know you’re welcome here.  What’s going on?  This isn’t about Jake is it?
PAULINA:  No.  It’s about Dante.  I don’t quite know how to reach him.
RACHEL:  What do you mean?
PAULINA:  I know something is bothering him.
RACHEL:  What gives you that impression?
PAULINA:  Come on Rachel, parents know their children better than anyone.  I’m sure you could look at Cory or Elizabeth and know something’s not right with them.
RACHEL:  I suppose that’s true.
PAULINA:  It’s like he’s carrying something around.  I asked him what’s wrong and he won’t tell me.
RACHEL:  As much as we want to protect them, even if we see harm from a mile away, we can’t.  They’ll have to learn their own lessons.
PAULINA:  Is everything okay?
RACHEL:  No. 
PAULINA:  What’s going on?  Can I help?
RACHEL:  If you can knock some sense into Matthew that would be fantastic.
PAULINA:  Uh oh.  What’s he doing now?  Is it that woman that he’s involved with?
RACHEL:  Of course it is, and he’s about to make a colossal mistake.

MATT:  Aren’t you gonna explain it?
BRIANNA:  How did you get this?  It’s clearly a fake.
MATT:  There’s a seal on it.  It’s authentic.
BRIANNA:  Anybody can fabricate—
MATT:  IS IT TRUE OR NOT?!  
BRIANNA:  Matthew.  Let’s talk about this rationally.
MATT:  You’re not who you say you are.  John and Sharlene were right about you.  You’re Taylor Benson’s daughter, and I can venture a guess as to why you came to Bay City.
BRIANNA:  NO!  No.  I don’t want to…my mother, before she died, asked me to finish what she started.  I don’t want to do that.  I…I gave that up!
MATT:  What about me?  Was I part of your plan of revenge, too?
BRIANNA:  No!  Of course not!  It was you.  You came into my life I…I want to move on.  I want us to move on.
 
MATT TURNS HIS BACK TO BRIANNA.
 
MATT:  No wonder you were so adamant about us leaving town together.
 
MATT FACES HER AGAIN.

DEVIN:  I gotta go.
ELIZABETH:  Wait a second.  What were you and Lindsay doing in here?
DEVIN:  What does it look we were doing?  We were talking.
ELIZABETH:  Are you sure that’s all it was?  You two seemed awfully close.
DEVIN:  What are you getting at Lizzie?
ELIZABETH:  You tell me.  Full disclosure, I heard you and Gregory having a…conversation in the men’s room at the club, and Lindsay was the topic.
DEVIN:  What exactly did you hear?
ELIZABETH:  Gregory accused you of being in love with his girlfriend.
DEVIN:  So?
ELIZABETH:  And you didn’t deny it.  You have feelings for Lindsay don’t you?
DEVIN:  You’re wrong.
ELIZABETH:  No I’m not.  I saw it way before today.  I see how you guys are with each other.  There’s something there.
DEVIN:  Even if there was, I can’t be with her.  I gotta get to the club.
 
DEVIN LEAVES.

PAULINA:  This doesn’t sound very good.
RACHEL:  It actually isn’t good.  This woman has convinced him to leave town with her, and he doesn’t know who she really is.
PAULINA:  My God Rachel I…I don’t know what to say.  Especially if Matt is not willing to listen to you.  What misgivings do you have about her?
RACHEL:  Nothing huge except that she’s Taylor Benson’s daughter, and she lied about it for months.
PAULINA:  Taylor Benson?  You mean that woman who tormented John and Sharlene all those years ago.  She had a daughter? 
RACHEL:  Yes, and she came to Bay City for payback, and I’m afraid Matthew is caught in the middle.

MATT WALKS TO THE DOOR AND BRIANNA RUNS UP BEHIND HIM AND TRIES TO GRAB HIS RIGHT SHOULDER.
 
BRIANNA:  NO!  You can’t walk out on me! 
 
MATT TURNS AROUND AND BRIANNA INADVERTENTLY SCRATCHES HIM ON HIS LEFT CHEEK.
 
MATT:  GET…the hell away from me!  You’ll be leaving Bay City by yourself.
 
BRIANNA STARTS CRYING.
 
BRIANNA:  Please don’t do this!  I love you Matthew!  
MATT:  I don’t wanna ever see you again.
 
MATT WALKS OUT AND SLAMS THE DOOR AS BRIANNA DROPS TO HER KNEES CRYING.
