Dana Kramer |
DANA: Hey girl how are you?
JOY: Good to see you.
DANA: Same here. I’m sorry about your mom.
JOY: That was harder than I thought.
DANA: When did you guys get back?
JOY: A couple of days ago.
DANA: I’m a little surprised she wanted to be buried in California.
JOY: Yeah she did. California had a sentimental value to her. She got pregnant with me out there, and it has something to do with dad.
DANA PAUSES AND SHE
GETS UP AND GOES TO HER LIBRARY OF LAW BOOKS.
SHE PICKS ONE OUT AND GOES TO SIT BACK DOWN AT HER DESK.
JOY: Oh I’m sorry.
I know things are still contentious between you and Marshall.
DANA: It’s fine. I’d rather focus on the positive. So what’s going on with you?
JOY SMILES AND HOLDS UP
HER LEFT HAND.
JOY: Oh nothing.
DANA PULLS JOY’S LEFT
HAND TO LOOK AT THE RING.
DANA: Oh that’s definitely something. Steven proposed and you accepted.
JOY: I sure did.
DANA: Oh CONGRATS!
THEY HUG.
DANA: It’s fine. I’d rather focus on the positive. So what’s going on with you?
JOY: I sure did.
DANA: Oh CONGRATS!
DANA: You must be over the moon about it!
JOY: You better believe it.
DANA: See there are great things going on in your life, and mine. See? Positive.
JOY: You’re right. Your law practice looks like it’s doing well.
DANA: It sure is, and that’s not the only thing.
JOY: Girl get out. You got a man, too? Why didn’t you tell me?
DANA: I didn’t wanna jump the gun, but yes I met someone.
JOY: Is he fine?
DANA: Yes he most certainly is. A tall, dark and handsome man. Well accomplished, and…you know…
JOY: Ohhh sounds intriguing.
DANA: He’s a psychiatrist at the hospital.
JOY: Even better. Anyone I know?
DANA: He’s fairly new in town so you probably don’t.
JOY: Don’t keep me in any more suspense. Who is he?
DANA: Dr. Maurice Bingham.
DANA: He’s a great guy.
JOY: I know you wouldn’t settle for anything less.
KC WALKS UP TO THE DOOR
AT VICKY’S HOUSE AND RINGS THE DOORBELL.
VICKY OPENS THE DOOR.
VICKY: KC. Hi
come on in.
KC WALKS IN AND VICKY SHUTS
THE DOOR.
VICKY: Do you want some hot chocolate? Tea?
KC: No thank you.
VICKY: It’s the least I could do after what you saw at my daughter’s party. I mean, you probably want to chew me out.
KC: No not at all.
VICKY: I just…my son is making a big mistake. He could do a whole lot worse than Joy.
KC: I agree.
VICKY: She is just not right for…wait. Did you say you agreed?
KC: That’s why I’m here. I don’t think Steven should marry her either.
Vicky Hudson |
KC: No thank you.
VICKY: It’s the least I could do after what you saw at my daughter’s party. I mean, you probably want to chew me out.
KC: No not at all.
VICKY: I just…my son is making a big mistake. He could do a whole lot worse than Joy.
KC Burrell |
VICKY: She is just not right for…wait. Did you say you agreed?
KC: That’s why I’m here. I don’t think Steven should marry her either.
Donna Love |
Marley Montgomery |
DONNA: Did you make sure to pack his bottles?
MARLEY: Yes.
DONNA: And does he have enough diapers in case he needs to…
MARLEY: Yes Donna.
DONNA: And be sure that he has…
MARLEY: All of his pacifiers and his toys. I’ve got it covered.
DONNA: Well I’m sorry Bridget’s party didn’t go exactly the way we planned.
MARLEY: Par for the course for our family.
DONNA: Unfortunately I’d have to agree.
MARLEY: Donna I’m…I’m also concerned about you.
CAMERA PAN ON
DONNA. SLOW FADE TO THEME SONG
MARLEY: No you’re not. You wanted dad to be here, too didn’t you?
DONNA: Come on Marley, everything I feel isn’t always about Michael.
MARLEY: Liar.
DONNA: Seriously! If he wants to travel all over the world with Stacey Winthrop then let him. I had wonderful times with Michael, but I’ve…moved on.
MARLEY: That would be great, better if I actually believed you, and fantastic if YOU believed it.
DONNA: Do you really think that I spend all of my days pining over your father?
MARLEY: When you’re not trying to play referee between Bridget and Michele, yeah.
DONNA: You and Victoria used to have disagreements, and you worked it out with her. I have no reason to believe that the girls won’t do the same.
MARLEY: You’re deflecting.
DONNA: Look what do you want me to say? That I’m still in love with Michael?
MARLEY: A part of you is always going to love dad, but you don’t have to spend every day wondering what he’s doing and who he’s doing it with. What I’m trying to say is…maybe it’s…time you moved on from Michael. You deserve a love of your own; a new and unfamiliar love. Something different.
DONNA: Please Marley if I really wanted a man I could have one. I’ve just been busy.
MARLEY: Well since you’re so occupied these days, maybe try…a dating app or website.
DONNA: Are you serious? I can get a date on my own. I don’t need an app for that. Besides you don’t know who you’re gonna run into on those things.
MARLEY: Don’t you want something fresh and exciting?
DONNA: Oh, like I had with Matthew? Well…that WAS exciting.
MARLEY: I didn’t say young.
DONNA: Whatever.
MARLEY: I can tell you this. You’re not gonna get a man sitting in this house and distracting yourself with the twins’ troubles. I just want you to be happy.
MARLEY: Now now Donna you know exactly what I’m talking about.
DONNA: I know.
MARLEY: If I didn’t have a plane to catch I’d talk to you some more.
DONNA: You be safe. I love you.
MARLEY: And one more thing…put yourself out there a little bit. Prince charming isn’t just gonna show up on your doorstep.
Jackson Giles |
MAN: I’m Jackson Giles. Your grandson Kirkland sent me.
---------------------------------------------------------
VICKY: I knew I couldn’t have been the only one who
felt that way.
KC: I understand your apprehension about the engagement.
VICKY: Did…Joy do something to you?
KC: No not necessarily. We had a nasty little encounter at the Center a few months back.
VICKY: I can only imagine.
KC: She talked down to me like I was beneath her. Luckily Toni was there to smooth things over.
VICKY: So you’ve had your doubts about her ever since? That sounds like an isolated incident.
KC: It’s way more than that. You know that my dad and Toni are back together right?
VICKY: Right?
KC: So I see her at the Center crying on my father’s shoulder.
VICKY: Really?
KC: And then at the party, I see them chatting it up and laughing over the punch bowl.
VICKY: So you think she’s after your father?
KC: No, I could be totally wrong about that, but I just…I can’t shake the feeling that she’s up to no good.
VICKY: Wow. You really do understand how I’m feeling.
KC: I have no idea what to do about it though.
VICKY: That’s the thing. I’ve warned Steven several times. I even told him that I would work on accepting his relationship with Joy, but I had no idea that he was gonna propose to her. That was a complete shock.
KC: Why do you feel the way you do about Joy?
VICKY: She slept with my brother in law many years ago.
KC: Do you mean my Uncle Tyrone?
VICKY: Yes. He and Marley were having problems and he cheated on her with Joy.
KC: Are you serious? Wow.
VICKY: And now she’s back in our lives getting ready to marry my son. I can’t have that!
KC: That’s why Steven said what he said at the party.
VICKY: It’s to the point where he chose her over me. Everyone is telling me to back off but I just can’t. He’s gonna regret marrying her.
KC: I understand your apprehension about the engagement.
VICKY: Did…Joy do something to you?
KC: No not necessarily. We had a nasty little encounter at the Center a few months back.

MAURICE IS LOOKING AT
HIS COMPUTER AT HIS OFFICE DESK WHEN JOY WALKS IN.
MAURICE: I’m sorry I don’t take walk ins. You can make an appointment with my
assistant.
JOY: I’m not here for a counseling session Dre.
MAURICE LOOKS UP.
MAURICE: Well well well. I was wondering when you were gonna show up,
and by the way, I don’t go by Andre anymore.
JOY: You created a whole new person, even shed your government name.
MAURICE: How perceptive of you.
JOY: My sister doesn’t know anything about you, does she?
MAURICE: Your sister?
JOY: Yes. You’re dating her.
MAURICE: Wait. Dana Kramer is your sister?
JOY: Don’t act like you didn’t know because you did, and you’re doing it to get back at me.
MAURICE: Why would I do that?
JOY: You can’t have me so you went for my sister.
MAURICE: Whatever we had is way in the past.
JOY: Sure it is.
MAURICE: So you’re getting married?
JOY: As a matter of fact I am.
MAURICE: So Dr. Frame popped the question huh?
JOY: He sure did.
MAURICE: Was this before or after you told him about Peaches?
JOY: Peaches doesn’t exist anymore.
MAURICE: Oh come on.
MAURICE GETS UP AND
WALKS SLOWLY TOWARD JOY, AND WHISPERS IN HER RIGHT EAR.
MAURICE: Who are we kidding here?
JOY: It’s like you said, it’s way in the past.
END OF PART 2
Dr. Maurice Bingham |
JOY: I’m not here for a counseling session Dre.
JOY: You created a whole new person, even shed your government name.
MAURICE: How perceptive of you.
JOY: My sister doesn’t know anything about you, does she?
MAURICE: Your sister?
JOY: Yes. You’re dating her.

JOY: He sure did.
MAURICE: Was this before or after you told him about Peaches?
JOY: Peaches doesn’t exist anymore.
MAURICE: Oh come on.
JOY: It’s like you said, it’s way in the past.
JACKSON: What’s that supposed to mean?
DONNA: Oh…uh…nothing. Please come in.
JACKSON: Not about you. About the possibility of you having a third child.
DONNA: We discussed hiring a private investigator. You must be it.
JACKSON: I did some digging into the Love/Hudsons, and boy, your family’s got a quite a history. Your own father locked you in the basement and separated your twin girls. You thought Marley was your sister when she in fact was your daughter. Victoria—
DONNA: Look, I don’t want to relive any of those memories okay?
JACKSON: Kirkland also said that you guys talked about a picture that your father showed you.
DONNA: Yes he was trying to have me institutionalized.
JACKSON: Reginald Love was a mean son of a bitch.
DONNA: What do you want to do?
JACKSON: I want to do the job that your grandson hired me for.
DONNA: Well I never agreed to it, and I don’t want the past to be dug up.
JACKSON: Technically you don’t have a choice in that matter.
DONNA: Excuse me?
JACKSON: You’re not my client. Kirkland is.
DONNA: Well I’ll just call Kirkland and tell him to fire you.
JACKSON: I’m not sure if he’s gonna go for that, being that he paid me for all my work related expenses.
DONNA: I don’t want to bring back up what my father did to us.
DONNA: And why do you want to help me?
JACKSON: Miss if you think I have an ulterior motive, I do.
DONNA: And exactly what would that be?
JACKSON: I told you. Your grandson hired me to do a job. That’s it.
DONNA: If your job is to look into my past, then forget about it.
JACKSON: This is to find out where your child is. After that, I go on my way.
DONNA: You can go on your way now, because I don’t want your services. You can leave.
JACKSON: Well if…if you change your mind.
JOY: I’m not her anymore. I’ve changed.
MAURICE: As have I.
JOY: Are you sure about that Dre?
MAURICE: Dana is an amazing woman.
JOY: And she’s my sister. Don’t hurt her.
MAURICE: That’s funny. Maybe I should go down the hall and warn Dr. Frame.
JOY: No you’re not gonna do that.
MAURICE: You mean he’s not gonna want to know how good we were together. Dre and Peaches. We ran the hell out of our business.
JOY: People got hurt because of us.
MAURICE: No. You caught feelings for Judge Tyrone Montgomery. The business wasn’t the same without you, so I shut it down, used the money—
JOY: Dirty money.
MAURICE: To go to school and become a psychiatrist.
JOY: So we both turned our lives around. I plan to keep it that way.
MAURICE: So you think marrying Steven is going to change you? He doesn’t even know you.
JOY: He knows about Tyrone!
MAURICE: And correct me if I’m wrong, but I bet he doesn’t know about the others.
JOY: You have my word.
MAURICE: Good. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to prepare for my next patient. Good luck Peaches.

JOY WALKS OUT OF
MAURICE’S OFFICE AND STEVEN COMES UP BEHIND HER. JOY JUMPS.
JOY: Whoa!
You startled me.
STEVEN: What’s going on? You came to see Dr. Bingham. What were you doing in there?
FREEZE FRAME ON JOY.
SLOW FADE OUT. END OF 337
Dr. Steven Frame |
STEVEN: What’s going on? You came to see Dr. Bingham. What were you doing in there?
