PART 1
AT THE CENTER, BRYANT
IS WALKING AND TEXTING, LOOKING DOWN AT HIS PHONE. K.C. IS COMING OUT OF THE COFFEE SHOP HOLDING
A CUP OF COFFEE. BRYANT BUMPS INTO HER.
KC: Oh my God.
My blouse!
BRYANT: Oh no. I’m…I’m sorry.
KC: I have to go to work!
BRYANT: Listen I’ll…I’ll pay for the dry cleaning.
KC: If they can get this stain out in thirty minutes it would be a miracle! I can’t be late.
BRYANT: Look I feel bad enough. I know of a cleaner that can get it done.
KC: Look forget it okay. I really gotta get to the…
KC CALLS SOMEONE ON HER
CELL PHONE.
KC: Dr. Mason it’s KC. I had
a little accident…Oh I’m fine. I’m gonna
be a little late. I can? Alright.
Thanks so much.
KC ENDS HER CALL.
BRYANT: Who was that?
KC ROLLS HER EYES AND
LOOKS BACK AT BRYANT.
KC: It was my boss. She said I didn’t have to come in today.
BRYANT: You gon’ miss out on some money?
KC: No it’s an unpaid internship.
BRYANT: So you got time for me to get your shirt cleaned.
KC: So you expect me to walk around with a bra?
BRYANT: Course not. Look just let me take care of everything alright, including your coffee.
KC SMILES.
BRYANT: Oh I should tell you my name right? Bryant.
KC: KC?
BRYANT: So you’re named after a city in Missouri?
KC: Keep joking and it’s gonna cost you another latte.

AT CASS’S OFFICE,
CHARLIE IS WITH CASS.
CASS: My God Charlie are you sure that’s what you
heard?
CHARLIE: Kirkland asked me the same thing. My ears didn’t lie. I know what I heard Dr. Mason say.
CASS: I don’t doubt that sweetheart. I just want to be absolutely sure.
CHARLIE: I get it. I wrestled with this. I didn’t even want to tell you.
CASS: Why not?
CHARLIE: I remember what happened back then. I didn’t understand exactly what was happening, but I remember the tension in the city.
CASS: What are you talking about?
CHARLIE: I’m talking about when Nick Hudson was accused of rape.
CASS: Oh. I remember that, too.
CHARLIE: The town was divided. Tension everywhere we went. I don’t want to cause that.
CASS STRADDLES
CHARLIE’S HAIR.
CASS: My little girl. Such a good heart, but what Dr. Mason said
was wrong and what she did was illegal.
CHARLIE: Dad I don’t want to cause trouble.
CASS: Honey, do you want my opinion?
CHARLIE: What if I said no?
CASS: Well you’re gonna get it anyway. Dr. Mason has to be held accountable for what she did. You were a victim of discrimination.
CHARLIE: Dad you do understand where I’m coming from right?
CASS NODS HIS HEAD.
CASS: I do, but I’m an attorney. I can’t do anything without my client’s
permission, so ultimately, it’s up to you whether you want me to pursue it. So where are you headed?
CHARLIE: I’m gonna meet Lindsay in the Center. Where’s mom?
CASS: She went to see Sharlene. Tell my niece I said hi.
CHARLIE: Sure thing dad. Thank you for listening.
CASS: Anytime honey.

Brianna Jameson |
Dante Carlino |
BRIANNA: I don’t even know why you held me.
DANTE: You know exactly why we held you, and don’t think this is over.
BRIANNA: It never began because I didn’t do anything wrong.
DANTE: You actually did. You impersonated Taylor Benson, but Wood Pines declined to press charges for some odd reason.
Frankie Frame |
FRANKIE:
Sharlene Hudson |
SHARLENE: He’s upstairs sleeping.
FRANKIE: How did you sleep?
SHARLENE: Not that great.
FRANKIE: Aunt Sharlene you’ve gotta try and get some rest.
SHARLENE: I can’t rest. I won’t rest until Brianna Jameson is out of our lives.
SHARLENE: I can’t. The moment I let my guard down will be the moment she attacks. She’s already tried twice.
FRANKIE: So you were up all night worrying yourself sick about this?
SHARLENE: No.
SHARLENE: I…went to confront Brianna.
FRANKIE: You did what?
John Hudson |

Lindsay Winthrop |
LINDSAY: What’s going on?
CHARLIE: Well...I told him.
LINDSAY: Oh my God. You told your dad? What did he say?
CHARLIE: He said that she had to be held accountable for what she did.
LINDSAY: Well he’s kinda got a point.
CHARLIE: But I don’t want to be the cause of another uprising in this town.
LINDSAY: Charlie you have a chance to set a precedent. What about the other people who are discriminated against because of something they can’t change? It doesn’t matter what a person's color is.
CHARLIE: Look it can’t be me okay.
LINDSAY: What about your child? What kind of example do you want to set for him or her? This really is for other people.
CHARLIE: Dad did say that he can’t do anything without my permission.
LINDSAY: You mean sue the hospital.
CHARLIE: Right.
BRYANT: Told you. I got friends in good places.
KC: My blouse is as good as new. Well I’m glad I don’t have to go in to work.
BRYANT: Guess you lucked out there huh?
KC: Yeah. I guess so.
BRYANT: I didn’t give you my card did I?
BRYANT: You could say that. Wait don’t go nowhere. I owe you a latte.
KC: You sure do.
CHARLIE: It is though. Although I was clearly qualified to get it. Probably more than the person who actually got the position.
LINDSAY: You mean KC Burrell?
CHARLIE: I didn’t…mean it like that.
KC: Well how did you mean it? I got the position fair and square.
CHARLIE: I didn’t intend to imply that you weren’t qualified.
KC: It sure sounded like that to me.
LINDSAY: Charlie’s just a little confused as to why she didn’t get the internship. You know it’s one of those things where you just think you have everything in the bag, and then you don’t.
KC: It’s a great position. I do enjoy although it does have its challenges.
KC: Thank you.
BRYANT: Hey Charlie. Good to see you.
CHARLIE: Hi. Bryant right?
BRYANT: Yes sir!
KC: You guys know each other?
BRYANT: The woman that raised me is her mother. Frankie.
JOHN: I told you that we needed something concrete to approach her with.
FRANKIE: John’s right. All she’s gonna do is deny everything that you accuse her of.
SHARLENE: What do you expect me to do? Do you really think I’m gonna sit around and wait for her to pick me off? She’s already tried to do it twice.
FRANKIE: I know that but confronting her is not the way you’re going to protect yourself.
JOHN: It’s only gonna make things worse.
SHARLENE: She was at the police station. I was completely safe.
FRANKIE: Wow. I wonder what they were holding her for.
SHARLENE: I have no idea. I just hope they can keep her locked up.
FRANKIE: I can make a call and find out. I’ll be right back.
SHARLENE: Right before you saw me at the hospital, I saw Dante Carlino escort her away. You see John, she’s probably made a mistake. This could be a good thing right?
JOHN: If they can hold her. If they uncovered any evidence that she tried to kill you, they would have told us.
SHARLENE: So you think that it’s…not related to her attempts on my life.
JOHN: I don’t know, but we would have known that by now. The police probably took her in on something unrelated.
SHARLENE: Maybe this could get her in trouble at the hospital.
JOHN: We have to play this carefully. Taylor almost killed you when she got removed from her position.
SHARLENE: I’m certain she was responsible for what happened to Maggie Winthrop.
JOHN: But Maggie can’t tell us anything. Until she wakes up, we have nothing.
SHARLENE: What if…she tries to finish off Maggie? What if she’s successful? Then we’re back to square one. She probably won’t stop until she hurts our family. There’s nothing we really can do is there?
JOHN: We can’t give up. We can’t let our guards down.
SHARLENE: John for the longest time we’ve been looking for something to nail her with and we haven’t found anything. Frankie did a background check and she’s come up clean. She impersonates Taylor at Wood Pines and nothing happens.
FRANKIE: Well you were right. Brianna was brought in by the police.
JOHN: Is she still there?
FRANKIE: No. She’s not. They had to let her go.
SHARLENE: So she slips away again. She’s gotta be stopped, and there’s only one way.
Rafael Santierro |
RAFAEL: No the lawyer did.
BRIANNA: It’s the least you could have done for me.
RAFAEL: You aren’t adhering to the terms of our deal.
BRIANNA: I’m doing everything I can but my hands are tied.
RAFAEL: What the hell are you talking about? You are supposed to be protecting my son.
BRIANNA: I can’t guarantee what King is going to do.
RAFAEL: And you definitely weren’t supposed to hurt Maggie!
BRIANNA: Maggie was getting in the way. If you want to keep her safe, you better keep her quiet.
RAFAEL: Get my son out of the business.
BRIANNA: Only if you keep Maggie quiet.
