PART I
Iris Spaulding
|
IRIS and DANA are in IRIS’S suite.
DANA: I’m sure you can’t forget that.
IRIS: That’s not the only fact involving Bryant. He stands to inherit Mac’s entire fortune including Cory Productions.
DANA: Well it’s not Cory Productions anymore.
IRIS: Oh yeah that’s right it’s…BayCorP.
DANA: Everybody knows you were kicked out of the company.
IRIS: You don’t have to remind me of that.
DANA: I mean doesn’t it make you mad? Don’t you wanna make them pay for what they did to you?
IRIS: Why do you care?
DANA: Because they’re stealing from my son.
IRIS: I know, and he deserves his seat at that table. I’m surprised you’re not going to contest it in court.
DANA: That’s Bryant’s decision to make.
IRIS: So what’s he doing? Biding his time until he strikes?
DANA: He hasn’t communicated this with me.
IRIS: So then what are you doing here? Oh I get it. You think that I want to team up with Bryant to destroy that company.
DANA: Your words not mine.
IRIS: My words…your thoughts.
DANA: Listen I don’t want Bryant involved in your war against the Corys.
IRIS: What did you say just a few minutes ago? Something about…Bryant’s decision?
DANA: I’m well aware of what my son’s choices are. He’s young and he doesn’t need to be in the middle of this.
IRIS: That’s not the only fact involving Bryant. He stands to inherit Mac’s entire fortune including Cory Productions.

VIVIEN walks toward DANA and IRIS but stops, hides and listens.
Vivien Gorrow |
IRIS: Isn’t that sweet? You’re being the protective mother. Bryant is Mac’s grandson and his rightful heir. If only he knew the fortune he stood to inherit he would probably…oh my God. You haven’t even told him.

PART 2
DANA: I wanna protect Bryant.
IRIS: I’m a mother, so I get it, but keeping the truth from him is not going to protect him. In fact it’s gonna have the opposite effect.
DANA: Don’t act like you’re so concerned about my son.
IRIS: He’s Mac’s grandson so that makes him family.
DANA: Family? You don’t have any loyalty to your family. You want to destroy them.
IRIS: You’ve got me all wrong. I don’t want anyone to get hurt. I just want what’s rightfully mine.
DANA: What more do you want? You’re Brandon Spaulding’s daughter.
IRIS: Brandon was my biological father, but Mac adopted me, raised me, and loved me as his own. That company is every bit mine as it is theirs.
DANA: That’s all well and good, but don’t put my son in the middle of it.

DANA LEAVES AND IRIS TURNS TO HER LEFT.
IRIS: Whoa! Vivien how long have you been standing there?
VIVIEN: I just…wanted to find out where the blankets were.
IRIS: Yeah sure. How much of that conversation did you hear?
VIVIEN: About Mac Cory’s grandson? Not much.
IRIS: So then you heard everything?
VIVIEN: Look I promise you I won’t tell anybody. I don’t even know anybody in this town.
IRIS: Good. The linen closet is near the bathroom.

IRIS: Is my suite becoming Grand Central Station? Send them up.
SHE SITS DOWN ON THE COUCH AND CROSSES HER LEGS AS THE ELEVATOR DOORS OPEN.
IRIS: I’ve been expecting you. We have some things to discuss.
IT’S BRYANT, WHO WALKS IN AS VIVIEN WATCHES.
BRYANT: This shouldn’t take that long.
IRIS: Oh?
BRYANT: I just wanted to share the good news with you.
IRIS: You’ve taken over BayCorP.
BRYANT: Not yet, but I got an interview with Rachel.
IRIS: That’s a good start.
BRYANT: Guess the train has left the station.
IRIS: That company belongs to you. It’s time you take it.
BRYANT: I’m not gonna do the raptor thing and swoop down on my prey. I’m gonna work this methodically.
IRIS: Don’t take too much time.
BRYANT: Wait a second. I think you need to remember. The deal doesn’t happen without me, so I will do this is in my time, not yours.
IRIS: Oh?
