AT THE CORY’S, RACHEL AND MAGGIE SIT ON THE COUCH…
Victoria Wyndham as Rachel Hutchins

Lindsay Hartley as Dr. Maggie Winthrop

RACHEL:  He never told me.
MAGGIE:  I’m trying to…

MAGGIE GETS UP AND WALKS TOWARD THE DOUBLE DOORS LEADING TO THE BACK…

RACHEL:  Maggie?  Is there something you need to tell me?

MAGGIE TURNS AROUND AND FACES RACHEL.

MAGGIE:  No.  No there isn’t.  Matt’s a grown man.
RACHEL:  I’m sensing something from you.
MAGGIE:  And just what would that be?
RACHEL:  A twinge of jealousy.
MAGGIE:  Oh come on Rachel don’t be ridiculous.  Matt can see whoever he wants.
RACHEL:  I think  you don’t want him to see this Brianna girl.
MAGGIE:  No I don’t.  I think she’s bad news.  He’d better watch himself.
RACHEL:  I appreciate that you’re looking out for Matthew, but I think he is more than capable of handling himself.
MAGGIE:  You know I didn’t come here to talk about Matt.  I came to see how you were doing.
RACHEL:  That’s awfully sweet of you, but I’m dealing.  I have to look after my children.
MAGGIE:  You know if...if you need anything, you can count on me.
RACHEL:  Thank you honey.  I’m so proud of you.  You have matured greatly.
MAGGIE:  Life teaches you sometimes.  Well I’m gonna go back to the hospital.  I got patients depending on me.
RACHEL:  Thank you for coming, and listen, I don’t care whose daughter you are, you’re still part of my family.
MAGGIE (smiling):  Thanks.

AT BAY CITY MEDICAL CENTER...SHARLENE CONFRONTS RUSS…
Anna Holbrook as Sharlene Hudson

Jed Allan as Dr. Russ Matthews

SHARLENE:  Josie is a grown woman.  If she doesn’t want to talk to you then there’s nothing I can do about it.
RUSS:  Sharlene please.  I want to have a relationship with her.
SHARLENE:  And you want me to help you get it.
RUSS:  Is there something wrong with that?
SHARLENE:  Yeah.  Yeah as a matter of fact there is.  Josie went through a lot, and where were you?  Where was her father?
RUSS:  You think I was okay with what happened to Josie?  I’m sickened that she was kidnapped by a serial killer.
SHARLENE:  Not only did Fax Newman leave her to die at the train trestle, you forgot about the prostitution.  You forgot about her wedding to Gary.  You forgot about her miscarriage.  You forgot about her other kidnapping, too by Cody Murcer.  Josie needed her father to teach her what kind of man she deserved.  She needed you to give her away on her wedding.  Our daughter needed her dad to be out there looking for her when she was missing, and you were nowhere to be found.  So if Josie refuses to talk to you, that is her decision, and I will stand by her.

SHARLENE LEAVES RUSS STANDING AT THE NURSES’ STATION, THEN JOHN WALKS UP…
David Forsyth as Dr. John Hudson

JOHN:  She’s been holding that in for years.
RUSS:  I’m glad Josie had you...as a father figure in her life.
JOHN:  I love her like she’s my own.  I get you wanna reach out to her and forge some type of relationship, but I’m with my wife on this one.  We’re gonna stand by Josie, whatever she decides.

JOHN WALKS AWAY….

AT THE CENTER...FRANKIE SITS AT A TABLE WHEN CHARLIE APPROACHES…
Alice Barrett Mitchell as Frankie Frame

CHARLIE:  Mom.
FRANKIE:  Hi honey.
CHARLIE: Whatcha up to?
FRANKIE:  I’m waiting for Sharlene.  We’re going dress shopping.  Sit down.
CHARLIE:  Sure thing.
FRANKIE:  So did you enroll in BCU?
CHARLIE:  Yep sure did.  Public relations.
FRANKIE:  That’s great.
CHARLIE:  Mom I...I’ve been thinking…
FRANKIE:  Bout what?
CHARLIE:  About something I asked you about when we were at the Corys.
FRANKIE:  I forget what you asked me.
CHARLIE:  Did you really forget?  Or did you wanna just want to forget?
FRANKIE:  I don’t understand.
CHARLIE:  Why you stayed away for so many years.
FRANKIE:  Charlie I told you.  I wanted you and Cass to be happy, and you were plenty happy with Lila.  I didn’t want to come between that.
CHARLIE:  I’ll be honest with you.  I think that’s just a bunch of b.s.
FRANKIE:  Excuse me?  Don’t you talk to me that way!
CHARLIE:  Sorry mom.  I just don’t believe you.  You stayed away all those years, and dad and I missed you.
FRANKIE:  Charlie I don’t want to talk about that okay.
CHARLIE:  But mom---
FRANKIE:  End of discussion.

SHARLENE WALKS UP TO THEM.

SHARLENE:  Frankie?  Charlie?  Everything okay?
CHARLIE:  I was just leaving.

SHARLENE AND FRANKIE WATCH CHARLIE WALK OFF WITH AN ATTITUDE

SHARLENE:  What was that all about?
FRANKIE:  Oh Charlie’s just being stubborn.  What can I say?  She’s a Frame.  Come on let’s go.

AT THE CORY’S...MATT WALKS INTO THE LIVING ROOM AND SEES RACHEL SITTING ON THE COUCH...STARING STRAIGHT AHEAD.  MATT WALKS IN SLOWLY AND SITS NEXT TO HER.
Matt Crane as Matt Cory

MATT:  Mom?
RACHEL:  Hi Matthew.
MATT:  Hey I left my file here.  Are you okay?
RACHEL:  I suppose I am, given the circumstances.
MATT:  Is there anything that you want me to do for you?
RACHEL:  Maybe you should...stop.
MATT:  Stop what?
RACHEL:  Stop acting sad.  Stop pretending.
MATT:  Are you talking about Carl?
RACHEL:  Yes.  Why don’t you be honest about how you really feel?
MATT:  What?  Do you think I’m happy about Carl’s death?
RACHEL:  Are you?
MATT:  How can you ask me something like that?  You loved him mom.  No matter how I felt about him before, you loved him, and I accepted that.
RACHEL:  You didn’t accept Carl.  You and Amanda never accepted him.
MATT:  Mom, maybe you need to take a walk or something.
RACHEL:  I’ve walked the grounds twice already.
MATT:  Are you gonna do a memorial service for him?
RACHEL:  He didn’t want one.  Besides, I wouldn’t have wanted the people in this town to come pay some fake respect for my husband, when they’re glad that he’s dead.
MATT:  You know what, mom, I know you’re hurting and I’m gonna leave you alone for a minute.
RACHEL:  Where are you going?  To see Brianna?
MATT:  How did you know about Brianna?
RACHEL:  Maggie was here, and she told me.
MATT:  Good ole Maggie.  What did she tell you?
RACHEL:   She didn’t tell me anything but I could see that she has doubts about Brianna.  Be careful Matthew.  Get to know what’s in the water before you dive in.
MATT:  I’m gonna get going.
RACHEL:  Look I’m...I’m sorry.  I didn’t mean to snap at you like that.
MATT:  No worries.  None at all.

MATT STANDS UP, AND KISSES RACHEL ON HER RIGHT CHEEK.

MATT:  I love you mom.
RACHEL:  Love you, too.

AT BAY CITY MEDICAL CENTER...RUSS IS IN THE LOCKER ROOM BUTTONING UP HIS SHIRT OVER HIS T SHIRT WHEN MAGGIE WALKS IN.

MAGGIE (walking to her locker):  Dr. Matthews.
RUSS:  Dr. Winthrop.
MAGGIE:  Shift over?
RUSS:  Yep.  It’s been quite a day.
MAGGIE:  Did you meet Dr. Mason?
RUSS:  Sure did.  The new Chief of Staff.
MAGGIE:  Oh I guess Dr. Hudson didn’t get the job.
RUSS:  Neither did I.
MAGGIE:  Well at least your day is over.  Mine is really just beginning.
RUSS:  Ahhh the evening slash night shift.  I remember those days.
MAGGIE:  When I grow up to be like you I can get more favorable hours.
RUSS:  You’ll learn doctors don’t have set schedules.  There’s one patient I have to brief you about.  Mr. Raney.
MAGGIE:  Okay?
RUSS:  It’s important he gets his meds on time.  It shouldn’t be a problem with Brianna on the job.
MAGGIE:  Brianna?
RUSS:  She’s a very good nurse.
MAGGIE:  Yeah...I bet she is.

MAGGIE ROLLS HER EYES AND PUTS ON HER WHITE LAB COAT

--------
BACK AT THE HUDSON’S, SHARLENE AND FRANKIE WALK IN WITH BAGS.  SHARLENE HAS A GARMENT BAG.

FRANKIE:  Whoa it’s the North Pole in here.  Is Santa hiding somewhere?
SHARLENE:  Guess the HVAC guy came and fixed everything.  I suppose I’ll...turn the AC off.

SHARLENE LIES THE GARMENT BAG ON THE BACK OF THE COUCH, THEN GOES TO TURN OFF THE AIR CONDITIONING.

FRANKIE:  I love that dress you picked out.
SHARLENE:  It’s a special night.
FRANKIE:  Chicago.  Ohhh the lake.  Sounds romantic.
SHARLENE:  There will be definitely be a lot of that going on.
FRANKIE:  I’m so happy to see you and John happy.  You two truly belong together.
SHARLENE:  You know what, Frankie, I’ve always loved John.  Even after we split up.  He had an affair with Felicia, then he left Bay City for a while.  I dated others, I was married to Russ Matthews, and I loved Russ, too, but John.

SHARLENE SMILES WARMLY AND LOOKS AWAY FROM FRANKIE.

SHARLENE:  He is the love of my life, and I am so happy.
FRANKIE:  You look it, and I’m happy for you.
SHARLENE:  Sometimes Frankie I...I can’t even believe that we’re here.  I’m about to take a romantic trip to Chicago with him.  His affair with Felicia really tore us down.  It affected so many.
FRANKIE:  Even my friendship with her.
SHARLENE:  And through all that, I love John more than I have ever loved him.
FRANKIE (smiling):  That’s so good.  You deserve it Aunt Sharlene, and you need to believe that you do.
SHARLENE:  Oh I do, and so do you.
FRANKIE:  Right.

FRANKIE TURNS AROUND TO LEAVE AND SUDDENLY SHE STOPS, AND TOUCHES HER CHEST.

FRANKIE:  Oooh.
SHARLENE:  What’s wrong?
FRANKIE:  I...felt a bit of a chill.   You did turn the air conditioner off right?
SHARLENE:  Yep...it’s gonna take a while to warm up.
FRANKIE:  Well...enjooooooy.  I hope you have a wonderful time.
SHARLENE:  I definitely intend to.

THEY HUG.

FRANKIE:  Love you.
SHARLENE:  Love you, too.

JOHN WALKS IN.

JOHN:  Hey Frankie.
FRANKIE:  John hi.  Sharlene was telling me what you have planned tonight.
JOHN:  I can’t wait.
SHARLENE:  Well let me go upstairs first.  You can’t see my dress yet.

SHARLENE GRABS HER GARMENT BAG AND GOES UPSTAIRS.

FRANKIE:  I’m gonna go now.  You two enjoy yourselves.
JOHN:  Thanks.

FRANKIE STEPS OUTSIDE, SHUTS THE DOOR, AND STOPS AS SOMEONE WATCHES HER FROM THE BUSHES.

FRANKIE:  Oh.  Something’s weird.  It’s probably nothin’.

FRANKIE WALKS TO HER CAR AND DRIVES AWAY.  BRIANNA, WHO IS DRESSED IN ALL BLACK, EMERGES FROM THE BUSHES HOLDING A PAIR OF WIRE CUTTERS WITH YELLOW HANDLES.
Wendy Moniz as Brianna Jameson

FRANKIE:  Here you go.  The keys to the kingdom.
DANA:  Thanks.  For what it’s worth, thank you.  I know it was a tough decision.
FRANKIE:  To be honest it’s one less thing I have to worry about.  You did us a favor.
DANA:  We helped each other.
FRANKIE:  I’m meeting my Aunt Sharlene.

FRANKIE WALKS BACK AND IS ABOUT TO GRAB HER BOX WHEN SHE HESITATES.

FRANKIE:  Dana.  I have a question for you.

MAGGIE:  I can wait, but I’m glad you’re here.
MATT:  And why is that?
MAGGIE:  Look I’m just gonna say it.  Something’s up with your new girlfriend.
MATT:  You’re talking about...Brianna?
MAGGIE:  Of course I am.
MATT:  Well first of all, Brianna’s not my girlfriend.
MAGGIE:  Doesn’t look that way to me.  Every time I see you guys you look cozy.
MATT:  She’s a cool girl.  I like her.

RUSS:  Thank you for that.
BRIANNA:  For what?
RUSS:  That was very quick thinking,  That is to be commended.
BRIANNA:  Not this again.  I’m just doing my job.
RUSS:  And you do it very well.  I can make a recommendation to the new Chief of Staff on your behalf.
BRIANNA:  You can just tell Dr. Hudson right?
RUSS:  No I can’t.
BRIANNA:  What do you mean?   I’m sure they just took the interim tag from in front of his name.  He totally deserves to lead this hospital.
RUSS:  He’s not.

THE NEARBY ELEVATOR DOORS OPEN AND THOMASINA WALKS OUT AND TOWARD RUSS AND BRIANNA.
Amelia Marshall as Dr. Thomasina Mason

BRIANNA:  Well if Dr. Hudson isn’t the Chief of Staff, then who is?
THOMASINA:  Dr. Thomasina Mason.

THOMASINA EXTENDS HER HAND TO BRIANNA.

BRIANNA:  Brianna Jameson RN.
THOMASINA:  It’s good to finally meet you.
BRIANNA: Are you a new doctor here?
THOMASINA:  No.
RUSS:  We were just talking about the new...Chief...Of Staff.  Are you the new Chief Of Staff?
THOMASINA:  If this was a game show, you would be a winner, because you have the right answer.
RUSS:  Well uh...welcome to BCMC.
THOMASINA:  I know you two are excellent at what you do and I look forward to working with both of you.
RUSS:  Does Dr. Hudson know?
THOMASINA:  I’m sure HR has notified him.  Oh it’s good to be back in Bay City.

SHARLENE APPROACHES JOHN’S OFFICE, AND GENTLY KNOCKS ON THE DOOR. JOHN IS LEANING BACK IN HIS OFFICE CHAIR WITH HIS HANDS FOLDED, PLACED ON HIS STOMACH.
Anna Holbrook as Sharlene Hudson

David Forsyth as Dr John Hudson

SHARLENE:  Hi there.
JOHN:  Hi.  I thought you were at home.
SHARLENE:  I’m...sorry you didn’t get the position.
JOHN:  This isn’t fair.  After everything I’ve done for this hospital!  I get passed over for an important job.
SHARLENE:  I know you had your heart set on it.

SHARLENE GOES AND SITS ON HIS LAP IN THE OFFICE CHAIR.

JOHN:  I just...I just knew I was going to get it.  After all, I was the interim Chief of Staff.  I was performing the duties that the Chief of Staff would, and this happens.  I’m shocked.
SHARLENE:  Well, at least we get to go away tonight...and take our minds off of it.  I’m certainly gonna do my part.
JOHN (smiles):  You sure know how to cheer me up.
SHARLENE:  It comes from knowing you for over twenty years.
JOHN:  Hmmm I love you.
SHARLENE:  I love you, too.

JOHN STARTS KISSING HER ON HER NECK.

JOHN:  Go lock the door.
SHARLENE:  I would love to, but I’m meeting Frankie in the Center.
JOHN:  Darn.
SHARLENE:  I promise I will make it up to you later.
JOHN:  Gonna hold ya to it.
SHARLENE:  We will get through this, too.  Just like we got through everything else.  I’ll see ya later.

THOMASINA:  I’d like to have a word with John.
SHARLENE:  Sure.  I was just leaving.

JOHN:  So what did you come for?  To gloat?
THOMASINA:  Not at all.  In fact, I need your help.

PART 2

DANA:  Are you telling me that I can’t come home again?
FRANKIE:  You’re moving quite fast, Dana.  You blow back into town; you get your sister off of kidnapping and arson charges; you buy this office space from me and Jake.  You’re definitely back, and you’re back for good.
DANA:  Your sixth sense is working greatly.
FRANKIE:  Whatever it is you’re back in Bay City for, I wish you luck.
DANA:  Thank you.

FRANKIE GRABS HER BOX AND WALKS OUT, THEN DANA TAKES OUT HER CELL PHONE AND MAKES A CALL.

DANA:  It’s done.  I’ve got my very own office.

--

JOHN:  You need my help?
THOMASINA:  I respect your expertise and knowledge.  You’ve worked for this hospital for years.
JOHN:  How will my experience help you?  Why would I help you?  Apparently I wasn’t qualified to be Chief of Staff.
THOMASINA:  I want you to be my assistant.  You will work closely with me in selecting staff, and to help me implement the changes that I plan to make.  They won’t be sweeping, but changes will be necessary to move this hospital forward.
JOHN:  I hope you have a plan for the budget, because the board can be hard to convince sometimes.
THOMASINA:  Patient care will be of utmost importance, as it is to you.  When you return from Chicago, I want to meet with you in my office so we can go over some proposals I will present to the board.
THOMASINA EXTENDS HER RIGHT HAND, AND JOHN SLOWLY EXTENDS HIS, AND THEY SHAKE.

THOMASINA:  I look forward to working with you Dr. Hudson.
JOHN:  Me, too...Dr. Mason.

---

SHARLENE WALKS TOWARD THE NURSES STATION AND SEES RUSS, WHO IS ON HIS CELL PHONE.

RUSS:  Josie.  It’s your dad.  I haven’t gotten a call or text from you and I’ve been trying to reach you.  Hope to hear from you soon.  Love you.

RUSS ENDS HIS CALL, AND NOTICES SHARLENE.

RUSS:  Sharlene.
SHARLENE:  Hi Russ.
RUSS:  It’s good to see you.
SHARLENE:  Yeah.
RUSS:  Could you...do me a favor?
SHARLENE:  Well that will depend on what it is.
RUSS:  I..uh..am hoping you could talk to our daughter for me.
SHARLENE:  Now why in the hell would I want to do that?
RUSS:  Come on Sharlene.  Josie’s my daughter, and I’m trying to reach out to her.  She hasn’t returned any of my phone calls or text messages.
SHARLENE:  And what do you want me to do?
RUSS:  I dunno...maybe convince her to call her father back.

MATT:  Really?
MAGGIE:  Yeah really.
MATT:  And what reason has Brianna given you to make you think this about her?
MAGGIE:  Well...I have no solid proof but…but I have my gut and it tells me something’s not right with her.
MATT:  So then you’re just…

MATT SMILES…

MATT:  Is it what I think it is?
MAGGIE:  Don’t look at me like that.  I am not jealous.  I’m just looking out for you.
MATT:  How?  You’re telling me that something is up with Brianna but you have nothing to show me that she’s bad news, so what am I supposed to think?
MAGGIE:  Listen, what I’m trying to tell you is keep your eyes open because let’s face it, you don’t have the best track when it comes to women.
MATT:  How did I know you were gonna say that?

RACHEL WALKS IN.
Victoria Wyndham as Rachel Cory Hutchins

RACHEL:  You should listen to the doctor.
MAGGIE:  Rachel!
RACHEL:  Come here you.

MAGGIE RUNS TO RACHEL AND THEY EMBRACE.

RACHEL:  You’ve been in town all this time and I’m just seeing you?
MAGGIE:  I had a little problem the night of Carl’s party.
RACHEL:  Cass told me.
MAGGIE:  I’m so sorry about Carl.
MATT:  I’m gonna leave you two alone.
MAGGIE:  Matt, remember what I said please.
MATT:  Bye Maggie...mom.

RACHEL AND MAGGIE WATCH MATT LEAVE, THEN RACHEL TURNS TO MAGGIE.

RACHEL:  I’m so happy to see you!
MAGGIE:  This is the first chance I’ve had to get here.
RACHEL:  So Matt’s seeing someone now?
MAGGIE (sighs):  Yeah he is.  Some nurse at the hospital.  Brianna Jameson.

IN THE HOSPITAL LOCKER ROOM, BRIANNA SLOWLY WALKS UP TO A MIRROR AND FLASHES BACK…(EPISODE 238)

BRIANNA:  I bet Sharlene has something to do with that.  She seems like a very lovely woman.
JOHN:  I’m very lucky to have her after everything we’ve been through together.
BRIANNA:  Some people...never ever find a love like that, no matter how hard they look.  Enjoy it while it lasts.

SHE FLASHES BACK TO THE PRESENT AS SHE CONTINUES TO LOOK IN THE MIRROR.

BRIANNA:  That’s right Sharlene, your little happiness isn’t gonna last long for you.  I’ll see to it.
